UNLIMITED EVERYTHING

Regal theaters just announced a new plan offering unlimited movies watching at their theaters for $18 per month. No blackouts and includes all movies as many times as you want. It seems like they following the car wash industry. I guess they want the guaranteed money every month, time will tell if it works for the movie industry like it does the car wash.

So Movie Pass was the first company to offer unlimited movies earlier this year. The service lasted a few months and then they shut it down because they were losing their shirts....do not see how the Regal version will last any longer as movie companies want to recoup their millions spent on movie production

Remember drive in movies? Well, just like nice, comfortable indoor air-conditioned theaters closed them all down, the internet and the prevalence of streaming any and all content will most likely put theaters out of business.

That and BluRay purchases/rentals, the low cost of huge, high-resolution TVs, etc. And have you noticed that most movies take barely two months from their premiere date in theaters to be released on home video? My local theater has taken to showing Bollywood movies just to fill the time slots.

I've also noticed A LOT of gas stations that had RedBox units in front of their stores are now gone, probably because of Hulu, Netflix, Youtube TV has made it more convenient, I guess the old school Libraries we grew up with will be bulldozed next to make way for another Starbucks.

I'm surprised there are still public libraries. Apparently some of them let you check out feature movies for free.

RedBox is very popular in low-income neighborhoods here.

Theaters still doing it here. Some rental car companies are trying it out, some car dealerships are offering it. d

This will absolutely work if they do it right. Movie pass didn’t work because they were a 3rd party that doesn’t own theaters and they had to pay full price to the theaters every time someone used their movie pass.

If they are smart they will offer concessions discounts with the pass as well as discounted second tickets on certain days/times. The only major difference between this and unlimited car washes is that they have to pay a bigger cut to the movie studios when it is closer to a movie dropping

I have a membership with Cinemark. I get one free movie ticket a month (The value of which is more than the monthly membership fee and the free tickets accumulate), online purchase fees are waived, and I get a substantial discount on concessions. They seem to be doing well as the parking lots are packed every Friday and Saturday. Maybe a car wash version of that would work with a loyalty system, like a free wash or a certain number of minutes each month, free vacuums and discounted vending.

Although not exactly the same thing the new store cards from Worldpay (for Cryptopay swipers) is similar. You can have the cards have a set percentage that gets added to a card reload and/or a percentage can be added back when they use it. A customer can set it up to auto reload every month.
