Update on the credit card system I added.

I added credit cards to the bays and updated the reader on my Unitec for the iba. This was done in mid December. We have had sub zero temps throughout Jan. The system has been operating with no problems. I am seeing credit card usage overall in the 50% range. The system does extensive accounting and monitors equipment, sending texts when there are problems and daily revenue reports. I can turn on a bay or the iba with my smartphone...and the list goes on. It also turns the customers credit card into a loyalty card allowing me to give them discounts, free birthday washes, 10th wash free, etc.

I DON'T SELL OR REPRESENT THIS... I'm just tickled with it's performance, capabilities and the service I get from the installer/programmer.

what type of system are you using? What was invloved in hooking it up...wireless, cat5 cable, phone line, dsl etc? What did it cost to add per bay? Cost for webhosting to do the free birthday washes and wash club? How does the autocashier add on connect? Are you free to use whichever processor you like or are you locked into one?

I can't help but wonder how long it will take for credit card usage to become as obsolete as VHS tapes or phonograph records being replaced by phones using near field communication.

It's been coming for at least 4 years and apparently wide spread in some countries.

It will then be interesting to see how long it takes the SS market to adopt it and at what cost.

Still surprised they can provide a Taxi with wireless cc processing for about $500.00 but it seems to cost twice that to equip a SS bay, and you need wires!

I've got a couple of the Square swipers for smartphones that are shown in the video. They work great! I've had them for a couple month's now.
 
A wash in our small town added CC's to the self serve bays, I dont know how they are doing, but what I do know that you have to start out with $5.00 if you use your CC.
