Upgrading Onboard Blower from 10HP to 15HP

I want to replace my middle blower motor with a 15 HP blower motor from the current 10 HP on a Jim Coleman WW 1.0. I talked to JCC and they said that I should also upgrade the impeller or I will not get a dramatic result. Has anyone done this? If so model #'s would be helpful.

If you only change HP on motor what do you gain other than higher amps draw, both motors are same RPM?

I've never figured out the horsepower thing in regards to blow dryers. I would think air volume and speed get the water off the car. I don't see how a 10HP at 3400 RPM would dry any less than a 15 at 3400 RPM. I'm not saying there isn't a difference, just that I don't understand

I don't feel that replacing just the motor will do anything at all. A 3-phase motor that can't achieve its full RPM will overheat very quickly, so it must currently be able to get to full speed. In that case, a larger motor won't change anything, but a larger motor and impeller will move more air.

I think to see much for results, you might need to replace all 3 motors and blowers. You should see if they have any cfm numbers to compare. My thought is more drying agent or a better one to get the results your looking for. I would also see if the angle of the blowers can be changed for better results.

I guess this brings up another question. When motors get older do they have trouble reaching their rated RPM. My drying has been getting continuously worse and I noticed after replacing the right side motor that it had considerably more power than the other two older blowers even though the motors are rated the same.

I will say concentrating on making your wax products perform well helps the drying process tremendously, AND can leave a shinier car that the customer will notice. Yes, your CCP usage goes up, but your power bill won't. Have you tried working that angle?

I spend a good time on waxes to get a good dry. My middle blower is not performing at it's best level and needs replaced. I thought if I could get a more powerful motor to fit on my current impeller it might create more airflow. I ordered a 10HP motor yesterday because according to JCC if you want to bump up to a 15 HP you should also change impeller.

New member, I just bought a CW Jim Colmen WW 1.0 few months ago. The blower just went out last week and I found one of the contactor is stuck(melt). I notice both motors for the blower are 15 HP.

That's an older wizard with 2x15 HP superior blowers. They changed to Mcneil 3 blowers later on with the plastic housings.
