Vac it up system.

Does anyone have the vac it up system and do you like it? Is it worth installing on a retrofit?
 
I have one and love it. Not sure if how hard it will be to install for you as mine was a new build. But I would not build one without it ans sorry that I did not extend it to the vac coin vaults :(
 
I have multiple washes and could not be without my Vac it Up systems. I retrofitted mine in the wall up over the bay and into the equipment room.
 
FWIW, I think the Vac It up is a great concept. However, once I intalled bill acceptors the quarter usage dropped by 50% in a short period of time. It's probably even less now that i installed CC acceptors. Do you have bill acceptors and CC acceptors?
 
I have cc but no bill acceptors. my cc usage is about 15% per month. I still get quite a few people bringing their own quarters. bill acceptance in the bays would not be a good idea in my area (vandalism). Also it would defeat the Vac it Up all together having to go to each bay to empty.

mjc3333 & others,

I am glad we don't have the same predicament bill acceptor wise in terms of vandalism as you. We like our bill acceptors ... mainly for the large quantities of five dollar bills:). If dollar coins were as common as quarters like the Loonie gradually became in Canada, you & others in a similar situation would be in a better position even with CC acceptance ... & also even if you find a way to install the Vac It Up System keeping the retrofit costs practical. Without changing the subject ... I believe getting the dollar coins as common as quarters would be a plus for almost all of us including our customers. Did anyone make there on traps under their bay meters? My system will be overhead and I was wondering if I needed to buy their access box or is it okay to make a trap out of 1 1/2" pvc elbows? Also, do you drill the 1/2" hole in the bottom of the first elbow under the meter right at the bottom of the radius?
 
I've ony worked on one system - they removed the old safes completely and just used drain PVC 90 fittings at the bottom. The genius who did the retrofit just hard-plumbed it all, and when a motor failed and it all clogged up I cut the PVC and used rubber couplers to reconnect it so it could be serviced easily if it clogged again.

You want to use hose or rubber flex-conduit anywhere there are bends (after the first 90 under the meter box). The coins will eventually smash through even Sch. 80 PVC and gray conduit sweeps.

If I did this, I'd still want a safe with the PVC 90 inside.

25+ years ago I installed orange tubing -from local nat gas supplier. One piece from trap to vac connection then one piece with a bend to slow the coins down into the safe. Not one smash through yet ! Now that I said that, I better keep my fingers crossed.
 
Would you recommend running flexible conduit from the trap under the meter all the way back to the pump room? or flexible only on the bends?
 
There's no reason to run flex the whole way - it's a lot more expensive than PVC, and the only place it should ever get broken out by the coins is in the bends.
 
If not using gas pipe/tubing,I would use flex only at the bends so that any future repairs would be easier.
