We recently had a request to vend the big Armorall trigger pump bottles of Protectant, Tire Shine, etc in our machine. Tall selections are always a problem to vend because the tops tend to come out first and "bridge" against the glass or they drop straight down and stand up so the customer can not open the door to retrieve the product. The only tray we can vend them is on the bottom one. Then they don't have very far to fall.
After much trial and error testing in a ShurVend "51" we finally designed a way to drop these big bottles on their sides so they can be retrieved from the drop box. We can get 4 selections of these bottles on the bottom tray with 1 or 2 shorter selections in the middle column so we don't lose any space on the tray. The upside of vending these big bottles is a higher vend price to increase the average price point of the whole vendor. There is a down side too; vending these big bottles means we can only get 5 trays in the machine. Normally we get 6 trays. Instead of getting 51 selections of products in the machine, we only get 42-44 selections depending on how it is set-up.
We will leave it up to the operators to decide if this configuration will work for them at their wash site.
