We recently had a request to vend the big Armorall trigger pump bottles of Protectant, Tire Shine, etc in our machine. Tall selections are always a problem to vend because the tops tend to come out first and "bridge" against the glass or they drop straight down and stand up so the customer can not open the door to retrieve the product. The only tray we can vend them is on the bottom one. Then they don't have very far to fall.

After much trial and error testing in a ShurVend "51" we finally designed a way to drop these big bottles on their sides so they can be retrieved from the drop box. We can get 4 selections of these bottles on the bottom tray with 1 or 2 shorter selections in the middle column so we don't lose any space on the tray. The upside of vending these big bottles is a higher vend price to increase the average price point of the whole vendor. There is a down side too; vending these big bottles means we can only get 5 trays in the machine. Normally we get 6 trays. Instead of getting 51 selections of products in the machine, we only:) get 42-44 selections depending on how it is set-up.

We will leave it up to the operators to decide if this configuration will work for them at their wash site.

Is there a Demand for Vending Larger Packages

We were looking at vending products listed in the catalogs and see there are many of the larger 16-22 oz bottles and aerosols being listed for marketing to the detailing customer at the washes. You can read above that we have found a way to vend these larger bottles/pumps/aerosols on the bottom tray in the vendor. We have had a few requests over the past months to vend these bigger packages. These vend for $5-$6 each which is a nice increase in vending prices.

My question is this to existing or potential vendor purchashers: Is there any real interest or demand for vending these larger packages?? I'd like to know what you operators think about this.
