I have a customer who claims that his sunroof on his Volvo cracked when he went through my Tunnel soft touch Belanger wash.
Are there any ICA bulletins addressing the issue of cracked sunroofs on Volvo's?

A few years back we had an issue with this, except our dryers shattered the Volvo moon-roof on the customers head and lap. Thank God he wasn't injured. Contacted Volvo with the issue and they took care of it everything. To this day I still slide the moon-roof cover closed before going through the wash.

I'd recommend you contact, or advise the customer to contact the Volvo dealership directly.

Do you recall the year and model of that Volvo? the Volvo that has the cracked sunroof is a 2010 xc60 model. I called Volvo Customer service and they said that they have not had any reported incidences for the xc60 but did have issues with the s60 and s80 where the sunroofs would shatter. In other words they are not accepting responsibility for the xc60

I don't, but I would guess that it was at least five years ago, meaning it was likely a 2010 or older, and it was definitely a sedan. If you check Earls links, the first and fifth relate directly to XC's. For what it's worth I found this study from the Korea Automobile and Testing Research Institute detailing failure rates and weaknesses of sunroof glass across a variety of makes, including Volvo. Probably won't do you much good, but here it is just in case.

Replacing those things isn't cheap, so I hope that you can work your way around this. A possibility may be refusing it and taking your chances in small claims court if they go that route, providing documentation that Volvo's have had this problem in the past, and at least two examples of it in the XC (as per Earls links).

Big, frickin surprise. For the mfgrs De Nile ain't a river. Toyota and Lexus denied issues with UA, Mfgrs also denied air bafg issues and on and on. Until NHTSA goes after thme or it hits the news there is a problem. A few years ago i had an issue with a Volvo sunroof exploding under the blower. My guy called me and the customer had called the cops. I faxed over some internet printouts baout the issue.

Lets face it. Whatever in your wash contacted the sunroof, it also contacted the rest of the roof, as well as the roofs of all the other cars being washed and I assume there were no marks on the Volvo roof or other cars. Something did not mgicaly appear at the exact moment to damage the Sunroof never appearing before or since.

Reminds me of a customer with an isolated mark, who when i pointed out the same equipment does the entire car said "Maybe there is something flying around in there".

Tell them it's unfortunate that they noticed the mark ithe crack after your wash but the physical evidence conclusively establishes via the abscence of any marks that the issue was not caused by your wash.
