I went to Wal Mart last night and used the self-checkout.
I was AMAZED at how the machine pulled the bills in! It's like they are being vacuumed into the acceptor. And they do not get rejected.

Can we get this type of acceptor for the car wash change / pay station machines?

I've thought the exact same thing before I stopped going to Wal-Mart. Those things are amazing, but I'm sure they are extremely expensive.

The new ones at Home Depot take several bills at once in a stack. I'm sure they're five to ten grand per station, not something I'd want at an unattended location.

Saw them open a self checkout machine at the grocery store. They had a jam in one of the the magazines that dispenses bills as change. There seemed to be separate magazines for 1,5,10, and 20. I don't know if they re load with accepted bills. In any event, it seemed each magazine had 500 bills in it. There were 8 machine. Was kind of scary.

I have thought the same, would be great if we could get that type of action with a bill validate and stacker in the Express / Automatic Pay stations. I do know there are some types that recycle the bills so you do not have to fill as much, but I don't know how reliable they are. Once you get a jam, you still have to open it up.

There probably using a Mars SC series validator, most payment Kiosks do. There are a pretty robust validator with a very robust price. The physical size of the validator makes it hard to fit into a bill changer or ACW. There made for inside dry locations, like Wal-Mart and Home Depot etc. It would be nice if they could be used in a bill changer or ACW but don’t think they’d hold up very well in the harsh car wash environment.

Sc series validators are what are used in pdq access pay stations.
