Want to Buy Lochinvar Boiler But Poor Service

I was planning on replacing my old raypac boiler this fall with a new high efficency Lochinvar boiler. I got a hold of a rep that sells Lochinvar boilers and I am not having much luck. The rep wants me to put a down payment on a boiler before he will provide any information on install or even give me a part number so I can check it out before I buy. I can't even get the sales rep to come to my wash and look at it, he just wants to sell me a boiler. I would like to know exactly how to install this thing so I don't end up finding out I need to shell out another thousand or two for extra parts. I have to wonder how the service would be after he gets my money if he doesn't want to talk before he gets money.

Is this the way all the Lochinvar service is? Needless to say I am probably going to go with another brand. I am sure someone else would be glad to take my $5000.

Sparks, are you installing it yourself? Normally Lockinvar would want you to purchase from a HVAC company so the HVAC company can sell you the installation work. If thats the case maybe that is why he is being a a-hole.
I own a HVAC company...copper prices are out of control! Keep in mind the cost of your added parts, controls, pump and copper may be $1000.-$2000.

Will PEX perfrom in this application?

I am going to install it myself. I have a refrigeration license so install is not all that difficult. I have since found a lochinvar rep from the Columbus area that is going to sell me a boiler. He came to my wash and looked it over gave me a good price and promised any help I might need during install as well as program my unit. I am not sure what the other guys problem was that wanted a down payment just to give me information.

Good to hear you got a good guy to help you out. The Lochinvar is a good choice..I installed a 500,000 BTU one for my floor about two years ago she's running like a champ.
