I installed a GE simon alarm system at my washes. Cost is between $200 to 300 depending on options. You program it to call whateber number you want.

It seems a better solution would be to have an always on internet connection on a person's cell phone & it would chirp on alarm & then a person could see what zone was violated. From there, isolate that particular camera & view. Anybody close to doing what I described ---- please share ---- it could help our industry a lot. We have laid a lot of basic groundwork with sensors & wiring & cameras but it seems that the limitations of the cell phones are the issue.

I have an Apex unit, you can program any number, it has zones and mics and speakers, so you can talk with them if need be.

You really don't need a monitored system, just one that sets off a loud siren. That will scare them away.

Mac...A friend of mine has his wash broken into...first they cut the phone line so it would not report, and yes the loud siren blasted away. They were in the equipment room for 3 minutes, did $15K of damage, got no cash.

Mj,

Have over 20 years in Cellular/Satellite. Perhaps I can help, but I'm not completely sure if I understand what you are trying to do?

Please elaborate...Big

Many alarm systems have this capability...its a mater of looking up the features of your unit on the web.

Also, many camera systems (like my Geovision systems) can sms/email on motion during certain hours.

There are many other ways with PLCs, etc.

There is a system/addon that is tear gas, you put it in the equipment room, someone breaks in, it fills the room with tear gas, no one stays in there long enough to do damage. Of course, when you screw up, neither do you.

I just got a system that works on a cell phone signal. It cost $89 to install and the monitoring is $13 a month. I love it. If you are in the DFW area, call Smith/Thompson Security Co. They are the only ones that I found to offer this technology.

Big Leo and Bill, here is what I think is the ultimate one. http://www.stopthecrime.com/default.htm This system sets off an ear piercing siren, flashing lights, and the best part, a big cloud of pepper spray. No monitoring required.

Yes, you had better be careful with this, but do you think it would stop someone?

You fill a room with tear gas and yes, it will stop the low lives. I once dropped mine and ran over it with my car, just verily cracking the seam in a very large underground garage. Within 30 sec. you could not breath in the garage.
