Washworld Double Barrel vs. Razor

Does the double barrel use less water? clean better? how much more expensive is it? can i update my razor to a double barrel without buying an all new everything?

I priced the double barrel option when I ordered my new Razor's. It's $7,000 extra. I also eliminated the Foam & Flow on the new machines and will run my carnuba wax through the hyperflex. I have never been able to get consistent results from the Foam and Flow so I'm done with it. The things that bother me about the double barrel is the size of the arm, (it looks extra long and extremely heavy/floppy), the sound of the water hitting the car, (seems very loud and I think customers will be concerned), and the distance that the arm has to be away from the vehicle, (will it size if someone gets too far to the right or left and are the chemicals being applied consistently if there is any type of a breeze).

for what it's worth, I couldn't be much happier with the standard razor. It gets the car very very clean and does so in about 5 1/2 minutes.

In my first year of operating the razor, I've already surpassed my old CPY average that was established over seven teen years in business.

I had one problem early on with a set of photo eyes but nothing since and it washes consistently well.

I ditched my foam and flow tray for the rain bar effect. Customers seem to love it and my top package with HotWax is by far the most popular

Im installing a Razor next week, what hot wax brand are you using? Thanks!

We looked at the double before ordering our third Razor due to bay height constraints. Requires additional bay height. WW was vague when I asked them about water usage. The Razor top packages use about 70 gals/car and we use the ARM function for most passes. I would want to try the DB a few times in my jeep to see how it cleans. The sound does not bother me as much as some customers will see it as more effective and it could be a good marketing approach. That being said I wish WW made a duel arm system (like a few competitors) before a double barrel as that would be more interesting and helpful to speed up the wash times. Otherwise we are extremely happy with our Razors. I do agree with the above comment about the Foam N Flow being hard to dial in. Our rep helped us with a duel inject approach which seems to help most of the time to make a curtain - but FNF is not a must, hyper flex is a big plus.

The Double Barrel doesn't save water but does create more impingement giving you greater cleaning capabilities.

Other things to remember about it are that due to the need to mount the rails 4 inches higher, it requires a higher ceiling than a Razor. It uses a swivel system similar to a G5 to get both high pressure and low pressure through the same straight pipe. This means significantly more work to change the lower swivel. When setting the high pressure you have to look at both the gauge on the pump station and the one on the spray arch.

All that said the one that we have installed has been a big hit with customers.

You did not ask for this but here it is-
I have 2 razor 3’s with foam and flo.
Wash world factory plumbing.
Or installer plumbing not sure which!
Air mixed with product in the workroom.
I tore it out and called Sonny’s and ordered some original parts for f &f.
Run an air line all the way to the bridge
With the air valves at the foamers.
Mixing air at the foamers now and its beautiful.

I use Colada Lather from Chemquest
Enjoy your new unit.

I recently installed a brand new Razor Edge and looking for ideas for right chemicals to clean the road films. I am using Low PH and then High PH soap combination but it is not giving the desired results. If you can suggest any ideas, I will be glad to call you if needed. Thanks

I m a multi Razor owner
I apply hi ph first then low ph
And I have things turned up fairly good

I ll chat with you!

Try adjusting the tip or chemical amount used. We find the recommended usage levels not as strong as necessary. We usually use 1-2 tip sizes larger to get the desired results. Chemical companies probably list the minimum amount needed so they can make some cost per car claim.

I found it's not JUST the chemical. but also dwell time. I'm getting excellent results with High PH only (about 13ph) but my dwell with it is about 1:30, during the dwell I'm doing undercarriage, rockers/wheels and then Low PH tri-foam.

Hi, Thank you so much for your input and it makes sense to dwell it little longer. My undercarriage and rockers/wheel is the first step as soon as the car enters the bay before applying soap, so I will have to figure out some other way to utilize the time during dwell. Thanks again.
