Washworld Razor III

Hey All!

Super excited as i finally pulled the trigger on repairing my broken down IBA and had some feeliers out and finally found a clean used Razor III. Has 60,000 washes on it and being delivered to my shop tomorrow! woot! It came from the factory w/ Tri-Color Foam option, 6 hole Power Towers, Premium Door controls, and 12v sign package (built in 2014). they are adding a cold weather package to it as well. Wont get around to installing until most likly april/may. I just wanted to get some operators input on these units. my hope is itll come in and be a work horse and get to the point where i can upgrade it to a newer unit. But for now this is exactly what i was looking for to replace my small bay hydrospray unit that hasnt worked since i bought the wash. With 60,000 washes any issues/headachs i need to be prepaird for? my installer will be replacing sensors and such so its ready to go out of the box just looking for some tips and tricks as this will be my first Razor and tech my first IBA also.

Congrats on your purchase. I don't have experience with used, but my Razor is a year old and has been great. I have replaced one set of stop eyes early on but that's it. Just routine maintenance and fill the chemicals.

Price as high as your market will bear. That's what I did and it is been a success so far.

The WW machines are awesome. We started with a version 3 and now have just 4s but always a solid machine. As you replace parts from normal wear consider upgrading to stainless steel parts if available. Our latest machine has SS and you can see the difference since the presoak chemicals can be harsh. WW should manufacture only a SS version but I understand why they offer the less expensive options. IBA equipment prices are becoming crazy. Good luck. Customers will love the machine and you can control everything remotely.

Convenience stores, they don't care about them lasting forever, they replace them before they become a maintenance headache and don't want the expense of stainless.

Perhaps as you are right about their approach. Most convenience/gas carwashes use the cheapest equipment possible which is good for many traditional operators. Only store that I have seen use top line equipment is Sheetz.

So last June I did the same thing you are.
Bought another wash
Hauled the D &S 5000 to the scrap yard
My other wash has a Razor 3
So I bought another used with 60,000 washes on it
When installed - we put all new wiring to the sensors and new sensors
New wheels/rollers
Updated the arch - came with the old foam padded one and was ugly!
Been running non stop since july 1 2022

In the workroom
Replaced all the injectors
And have some dema 463.PS Din solenoids on hand
Fyi KleenRite has them on backorder now

Are you using low ph and high ph for the Pre-Soak, or just a high ph Pre-Soak?

Depends on the season. In the Winter we use a Lo/Hi combination to deal with salt and brine. In the other seasons we use two passes of Hi pH. Two passes instead of one to increase dwell time.
