Does anyone have experience with these doors? It appears that the shaft where the motor connects to the gear box has sheered off. I am not sure if the motor could be salvaged by getting that piece of the shaft out. I am also not sure what could have caused this other than a faulty shaft. When I arrived it did not seem as if the door was jammed and i would imagine that even if it was that much force would have damaged other things. I am hoping i can find the whole assembly of motor and gearbox so that i can get this going asap and then maybe look in to rebuilding the old one. I believe its 460V

Well I got a quote of $4000 for a new operator. Anyone have any suggestions? It almost looks like there is a sacrificial shaft between the motor and the gear reducer but without an exploded view or a machine shop I’m really not sure.

Take it to a local machine shop or motor shop for some options. $4k is a hefty price, repair should be far less than that, even with a custom machined shaft from a machine shop

Thank you Buckeye Hydro, I did see this but mine is a 460v. I talked to an electrician about converting but the controller is 460v so he’s not confident that it’s possible.

It looks like there may be a "stub shaft" between the motor and the gear reducer. The parts are at a motor shop now and i just shared this link with them. Im not sure how difficult it is to get this part.

stub shafts are readily available, going to have to figure out why the stub shaft broke.

Yes, that isa concern. The gear reducer spins freely and the door isn't stuck. Could the system have faulted and held the brake?

I'm not familiar at all with these systems. But there was some fault to break that shaft. Do the doors have springs in them? And if so, are they all working and not broken. Broken springs can quickly cause openers to break.

No spring, its a weighted fabric door. the motor rolls it up and the weight of the door lets itself back down with an electric brake to control holding it open and letting it back down. the brake is on the top of the gear reducer at the other end of the motor shaft.
