Weep adjustment driving us crazy

Adjusting weep down to the minimum kind of reminds me of trying to get used to trigger release pressure on a gun. How much pressure do I need to pull with to get to fire??? Hmm.. Didn't fire yet - maybe a little more... Oops. I was aiming at my foot. I'm over penny pinching
on weep. I install weep reclaim every chance I get. If its not feasible - oh well.. Couple hundred extra bucks and a tomorrow that doesn't suck.

Another possible culprit???? If you have gravity tanks, Do they ever overflow when the weep is on?

No they do not but for future reference what would cause that?

A bad CV between where the weep tee's into the HP hose and your pump....If that cv sticks open or does not seat completely, which I have had it happen several times, weep water takes the path of least resistance and flows back into the gravity tanks over flowing them. If that was happening and was bad enough, it could change weep pressure in the HP hose and starve weep at the bay gun. Grasping at straws here other than redoing the entire weep system like I did to eliminate problems....For me, I work 10 hours a day away from home....I had to figure out my freeze problems early on since I don't have time to thaw lines and worry about it when the temps drop below freezing. I've put a lot of work into how trouble free my system is....

Are you referring to the check valve on the left with the 1/4" tube coming in from the bottom?



That one only keeps the pressure from coming back through the weep lines. If you meant a different check valve on the outlet of the pump, I don't use one and would recommend not using one. One, it's sonething else to go wrong. Two, the pump should not allow flow back into the tank, and if it does it has a problem that needs to be addressed. Three, there's also usually a check valve on the line from the tank, except for systems that use a hot water and cold water tank with a motorized valve to switch between them.

Hmm. I don't know of any pumps with bubble-tight internal valves. Seems every one allows some backflow, as they are designed for speed over sealing capacity.

Same thoughts here. I had backflow and tank overflow issues early on. Had the hardest time figuring out why? Who would have thought Mark VII would use a Giant Regulator with a built in check valve! Sneaky!

For some reason the weeps have been working fine for the last few weeks. Two bays are at 12 oz/minute and one is 14. Still scratching my head over this whole deal.
