weep mizer problem

What's the temperature outside? The Weepmizer will cycle on and off, is the Weepmizer cycling? When it cycles the output light will come On while the Weepmizer is On. I would probably start by looking at the solenoid valve. What kind of valve is it? Open the valve up and look for any damage to the valve diaphragm or debris inside the valve.
It shouldn't be on at 40 Deg. I'd look at the solenoid valve first. If you don't know what kind of valve it is, take a picture of it and post it here.

The weep water should be connected, using a Normally OPEN solenoid. This is so that a power failure will fail to a protected state.
If the weepmizer is connected correctly to the N.O. solenoid, the solenoid is OFF when the light is ON, and vice versa.
I've got a car wash helper, that after 10 years, still doesn't understand that OFF (the light on the weepmizer) means ON (weep water flowing). It's counter intuitive.

Well what did you find out?
Start by taking a voltmeter and testing the fuse in the base of the weep miser. check continuity. if its good replace it. turn unit on and then check to see how many volts it is sending to the solenoid. either 24 or 120. If it's correct, then your problem isn't the weep miser its your solenoid. Simple process of elimination and deductive reasoning. open the solenoid look for junk, look at the diaphragm for cracks or tears, test it by adding and removing current. Is it activating? check the spring check for washed out housing. never power the coil with the stem not present it gets hot and swells n is ruined. most solenoids sell repair parts or just buy a new one. i turn my systems off for the warm months. Remember with normally open that means its energized for 99% of the time and that's a lot of cooking in a year's time so rarely does one last for 5 years. that's a lot of heat so buy a quality one that doesn't buzz all the time. I've had better luck with ASCO rather than DEMA. the Dema last 2 years at most and get way to hot. stems turn purple. With what water cost now it worth spending more to stop pissing money on the ground.
