Paul, That's what I've been trying to tell the guy. Get a frigg'n Dixmor Weep Mizer and join the rest of the world instead of some antique bulb thermostat. I got rid of the bulb thermostat about 1988.I dont mean to beat a dead horse, but buy yourself a weep miser, it will save you enough $ to pay for itself very quickly.
In addition to saving you $ it will give you a much more standard weep setup which allows us to help more easily. It will also eliminate the need to adjust your thermostat based on the weather.
They are simple to install - 2 wires to the normally open soleniod, 2 wires for power (ie plug it into a wall outlet), and 2 wires for the thermostat (included i think). Just use the default programming.
If it's Normally open solenoid that means No Power = Open. I think Probably all that's wrong is that you pop the fuse in the weep miser. It's there on the bottom side where all your wires plug in give it a little quarter turn. Then the fuse will pop out of there. If the fuse is popped then the water runs all the time regardless of what all that readout is doing. So first things first I check that fuse you're probably doing a bunch of work you don't needed to do. It's it's one of those hair thin fusesI have a weep system I set on 30 degrees for two as bays in the winter. It’s fed with water from the main line on the left and also a line from the ss bays on the right. I put a new solenoid on last week because it was running all summer. It’s still running, when I turn it to 30 degrees it will click and when I turn it up you can hear the solenoid buzz.
There is a check valve on the left side, not sure if it’s good or bad. Any idea why the water won’t shut off?
