i have a question about weep systems. thier are several post concerning weep system. has any one used a manufatured system like the one in the kleen rite kleen scene issue to blow out system and inject rv anti freeze ? does it work ? we are looking at a manual system to blow out all line then pump rv anti freeze in line. would only use this sytem when temp was going to stay very low for several days (the wash would be shut down ) kevin

how does that system from Hi-performance work?The KR system does an automatic complete purge.

Keep in mind that RV antifreeze turns to a "slush" when it gets too cold...each manufacturer has different points at which it occurs, but from what I have learned...it always happens. I know these systems are out there, but I have no idea how they keep from getting this "slush" freeze up.
Anyone with a suggestion, please chime in!

RV-antifreeze does not turn to a slush.No matter the mfg.At about -15 or -20 it may turn to a jell.Which is normal for its chemical make up for it to bio-degradable and environmentally friendly.That is why it is used in RV's,boats and to winterize plumbing.It does not freeze and does not turn to crystals.

Some people do.However,if it is not mixed the proper way it will degrade the seals in pumps,valves and solenoids.After that happens you will have leaks and the possibility of the wrong dilution ratio and may not purge correct way.And than there is the cost.

LuckyDog, when it's cold enough to close for a couple of days or more I blow out the HP lines and purge the brushes,TC and PS with windshield washer fluid. When your set up for it, it goes pretty fast. My heat strips in the trough quit working. They have a set of contacts that turn them off and on and the contacts fail after a few years. When the heat strips were working I didn't purge the TC and the PS, only the brushes.

The HPWS system is fully automatic and works well. MINUS 17 here this week and no freeze-up.
I developed the original concept for foam brush systems. HPWS has evolved the program to include wands and foam guns.
If your spot free rinse system uses a single repressurization pump (most do) you’ll want to make sure all the SFR solenoid valves are absolutely leak free. One minor solenoid leak will unexpectedly freeze a bay hose solid. Converting to multi-pump SFR eliminates that issue.

Just came from the MCA show. A company out of Frankenmuth, MI make a system that uses no water and purges and injects the lines after the system is used. There called Polar Freeze Guard Systems. I was very impressed and is very inexpensive.

Few Questions about this system.
I looked at this system and thought it was a pretty good idea, but have a few questions......
#1 How much does the RV anti freeze cost? How much do you use on a cold busy Saturday.....how would it compare to weep water costs using a weep mizer? (for my particular consideration, Southeast winter considerations would be most helpful.)
#2 When the Antifreeze is sent through the line and gets rid of the water, what does the remainder of the product (still in the lines) do to the paint on the next car that uses it? If is leaves residue, is it easily removed with no damaging consequences?

They told me a 55 of RV is about $180.00 from where they get it from. For the season they said they use about 90 gallons, depending how busy your wash is and the outside temp. Its set up to purge 1 minute after the customer is done using the bay, the busier you are the less it will purge. One bad thing is you can't change the 1 minute time, if your really busy and your customers don't move in and out of the bay quick enough it could purge almost everytime. One other downside is you have to keep your trough warm so it won't freeze. The system purges from the boom out, it doesn't purge the entire line from the backroom out. They suggested a closed looped line run through your trough. They said to either hook it in to your floor heat or a small 6 gallon water heater with a recirc pump on a timer. The RV is considered safe by the FDA, but never asked regarding residue or paint damage. The good news is it will get rid of bucket washers and ice build up around the guns and brushes. Its a good option considering the rising water costs, I know in areas of MI water is suppose to rise by 40%. The system they sell is set up for 4 outputs, either 4 high pressure or 4 foam brush. They said its $100.00 for each additional output. For a 4 bay, high pressure and foam brush, it would be an additional $400.00. Oh, one other thing, if you use a rotary style switch, if the customer doesn't use the foam brush option, but rolls past it, it will still purge. If your saving a lot I guess its not that big of a deal.

With two blow downs and and antifreeze purge, you should have all the water gone from your lines, right? Or is that too risky?

The water cost you $300-400, but what did you pay to heat that water? The 4 bay system is about $2500.00. In the midwest we had a really cold January and I just got my last gas bill and almost fell over
