I currently have a single Hamilton changer and want to put in a dual changer so when it goes down I don't have to drive all the way to the wash to fix it right away, like the idea of a backup.

If you where to put in a new dual changer which one would you do and why?

Also would you dispense quarters or $1 tokens out of it and why? "I currently dispense quarters only and have been for 20 years"

Hamilton DRS (Dual changer in one cabinet) with Mars acceptors.

I'm running all quarters and plan to stay that way for the forseeable future, but there are advantages and disadvantages to tokens. With $1 tokens you'll make a bit of extra from token loss since they cost less than a dollar, you'l have fewer coins and weight to handle, you can promote your wash by giving an extra token for larger bills, some customers will appreciate having to drop only a couple of coins to start instead of a handful. The main disadvantage IMO is customers not wanting tokens left over.

Hamilton DRS for sure! Best decision I ever made on my first wash. I ordered another unit before I closed on my second wash. After signing at closing I had my guys install it same day. Its nice having 2 in one cabinet as insurance in case 1 goes down. I dispense quarters and dont think Ill change.

Which model Hamilton changer do you have now? If you've got a RNS I'd install another RNS, if I have room for one. If I'm limited for space I'd install a DRS with Mars validators.

Hamilton for sure. Not sure of your setup or spacing you have but if you put another in next to it you should do that. Dont get rid of a machine that is working just to have a double. Always a mars validator

I second that That way you can also keep a spare validator and hopper on hand as spare backups for both. If you have the room / budget add the dual and that way the spare hopper and validator can be used in all 3. In my experience if one goes down the other can be sucked dry pretty quickly. That is why I have 3.

Does the Hamilton DRS have remote monitoring capabilities? That is what made me keep maintaining & upgrading the two (4 hopper) Standard Changemakers that we have. Not sure which brand is currently doing better in that department???

Yes, you have to order it DAN compatible and buy a DAN computer system to run it.
I don’t think it’s going to be too much longer that Standard will be servicing the System 600, it’s my understanding that parts are getting real hard to find for the older validators.
