My four combo vacs only accept quarters at this time. Do you think it would be worth installing bill acceptors? And if so, do you just tie the wiring into the wires for the coin acceptor?

I have not added any but I have purchased some with acceptors. Luv them. Have not added any due to the addittional work to make the coin / bill acceptance area more secure.

I believe the more options you offer to accept payment, the more revenue you will receive.

I wanted to add them to my JC combo vacs but was concerned with security as well as the ones that come with the bill acceptors already installed have different locks that are more secure. On the other hand, my bays have bill acceptors in the JC coin boxes and use the same two lock setup that the vacs use.

I hate to mention this but that door can be opened faster without a key. The keys are to keep honest people out. I believe it's designed that way to reduce vandalism. I would put nothing of value behind a standard jc door. That is actually why the coin box is NOT behind that door.

My JCs withhout acceptors have regular round locks in the door. With Bill acceptors they have medeco plug locks covering Allen screwspls there i the Stainless round bar going across the bar secured with a discus type lock in a housing.

The trick would be to ad a good layer of locking protection without too much engineering.

When I spoke to JC I gathered that the vacs with acceptors were setup just as you described. They wanted a lot of money for a new door and the conversion pieces for the new lock though. I am surprised that my coin boxes only have cam locks even though they were originally installed with acceptors.

I don't know what "a Lot" is , but the upgrade for Bill acceptors was around $1000 5 years ago. That included the accepter.

Yes, it was a little more than that now, probably around $1200. Did you convert yours or buy them ready? How hard was the conversion if you did convert?

Are you guys just talking about replacing the screw on door? :) Or does it weld on? I don't like fragramatics vacs...... but they are like fort knox compared to the round jc vacs. Oval jc vacs are a little better I guess?

I'd check out Jim at Etowah Valley.
He has a bill acceptor that you can install next to your vac that should work. I've had mine in my bays for at least 10 years with no problems.
I think it's around $600-700, easy to install.
That way if they would try to break into the bill ascceptor it wouldnt knock out your vacs/shampooers.
