I am considering taking a tour or interviewing the best of the best of in bay automatic car wash operators in the country. I just celebrated my five year anniversary on what was a state-of-the-art car wash and I feel that I need to start considering upgrades in all areas of the wash. Auto cashiers, SS offerings (ie air shammees), loyalty cards, vending. I at least want to get a budget together and weigh the cost advantages of the upgrades. It's hard to consider this after building a $1m+ car wash but figure I better start thinking about it before someone else decides to down the street from me. If you have any "must see" canidates for the "best of the best IBA operators" please let me know. Thanks for your help in advance.

I agree with the way you think, discourage competition before they get started. I'm in the same position, I built my 3/1 4-1/2 years ago, have washed quite a few cars, now I'm thinking about spiffing things up to let my customers (and would-be competitors) know that I want to offer a better-than-average product/service.

On modern marvels, and carwashing there was a nice wash on the opposite end of your state. You may want to find the show, The washes were north of philly, and were pretty impressive.

Cloister Wash Lube in Lancaster, PA. I saw the show. It is a very impressive wash but it is full serve. I am looking at self serves with IBA. I am probably going to go visit it anyway.
Thanks

I just opened up a new 2 and 1. I put in almost everything I could think of. I did the air shamees. Love them. I also made my automatic an express rollover with a lot of up-sell features. It's motivated me to upgrade my old wash. The revenues have been better than expected.

I grew up in Pittsburgh. Still come up at least once a year. Where are you located? Love to see your place next time I'm up. Go Steelers! Go Penguins! God love the Pirates.

I grew up in Pittsburgh as well and get back there about once a year or so. I would like to visit your car wash as I operate a 5/1 here and also am a distributor.

Hey guys. When you come back to visit the Burgh make sure you stop by. I have two washes on Saltsburg Rd about a mile a part in Penn Hills. Send me a private message and I'll give you my cell. At my older wash I recently built out a bay into a dog wash.
