If they will give a few samples, how fo I know what to tell them I need?
Mine are about the size of a qrtr, but not as heavy. Their cost is .21 from TokensDirect.
Seems pretty expensive to me...

Common token size is .984 which is just a hair bigger than a quarter. They sent me to Hoffman Mint to order custom tokens. Just call them, they'll send you a pack of sample tokens.

Make sure you are getting a high security token with a protected radius to all your washes. Osbourne gives you 100 mile area protected. I just ordered 27k and they were $.21/each.

The tokens I use are about the size of a dollar coin and I value them at a dollar for every one that does not come back I make about .70 on . If you value it at a quarter you will lose money or make very little on the ones that don’t come back. I accept both quarters and tokens in all my equipment

I highly suggest that you continue to use same tokens that the previous owners used. Even though they cost .21 each. How many thousands of the previous tokens are out in circulation? If I was a customer and I had a hand full of tokens that bought at the car wash and now they don’t work I’d be pi$$ed to the point of damaging something. What is the value of the tokens? At .21 each they’d better valued at a $1 each.

I ordered 10,000 tokens, cost $1700. I make 8¢ for each one that disappears. I mix them in the changer to discourage abuse. If I load the changer with about 20% tokens I lose about 500 a month. If I run straight quarters I lose more money buying quarters (It costs $35 for a box of $500) plus my gas and time getting and unwrapping them. The best part is that during the peak of COVID-19 I couldn't get quarters at all for several months.

He also dispenses $1 coins @ the WSII, which i find odd. Now they can't be used anywhere.
I dispensed them for 20 years. The new owner has continued and also converted his other wash. They can be used anywhere in the US. I actually find it odd that operators dispense quarters at an ACW. I would be irritated as hell to get 12-13 dollars in quarters as change for a wash.
