WW Razor Grease Fittings on Unloader Valves

I noticed one of my Unloader Valves is dripping out of one of the Grease Fittings .I was told not to Grease them but on the Unloader Valve itself it says use silicone grease.Does anyone Grease these Fittings?

I used to grease them on a routine basis. They all would leak. Now, two years running, I haven't greased them since and no leaks. I talked to a regional maintenance guy if he greases those when he works on Razors. Nope. He says "if you grease them they'll leak". I even tried that silicone grease WW recommends- leaks.
 
I'm sure they have made modifications to the current line of these unloaders to address this issue otherwise I won't know what to replace it with.

This is what I've used on a number of machines. They last a long time, up to ten years.

 
My unloaders seem to need a new o-ring installed every 6 months to a year. Doesn't take long just annoying not being able to shut the water off, I'll try the above next time, thank you!
 
Copper globe... after a search....no luck finding a source for the kit you are looking for (General pump #K316)

What you might try is using the attached exploded view to replace the orings (item #10 on subassembly B)

I had a couple leakers and rebuilt them yesterday. The leakers were exactly as the recall photos that Diamondwash posted. The one backup ring wasn't complete- ends weren't meeting correctly. Made the O-ring in that spot bulge out and I assume cause the leaks out the grease fittings.

Also, The O-Ring Store is the place to shop for O-rings. Ordered some and two days later they're here.

I had a YBRV5325 on the shelf and took it apart to see what's inside- the kind that MEP says lasts for years. The main difference, and I think it's huge, is that the o-rings the YBRV5325 slide up and down against the stainless bullet whereas the CWR4525 (grease fitting version) the O-rings are mounted onto the stainless bullet and slide up and down against the brass housing. The last CWR4525 I had that was leaking couldn't be repaired with new 0-rings/backup rings because the walls of the brass housing were marred (yes I do grease the units). O-rings rubbing against stainless will last a lot longer than against brass.

Did you order just the o-rings or the white backup o-rings as well? I'm in the same boat and need to rebuild one of mine that just started leaking. Thanks!
 
I ordered the O-rings and the white backup rings. That online store is great except for their communication skills. They don't answer the phone nor emails. What I did is measure the O-rings and white rings and then went on their site and ordered several sizes around what I thought they should be. They shipped all of them. I haven't sorted things out yet to figure out which is which.

You may want to try one of these:


They are designed different than the grease fitting versions. The O-rings in the grease versions rub up and down against the brass throat causing the scarring or scratches in the soft brass. In the above version the O-rings are mounted in the brass (they don't move) and the stainless bullet is the thing that goes up and down with the O-rings rubbing against the stainless (no marring or scratches).

I've got both installed on my razors and the above versions haven't leaked yet.
 
I just swapped the o-rings on mine with the ones purchased from the o-ring store, and leak fixed for now. Just a band-aid though as the teflon ring caused the issue and is still bad. If anyone figures out what size those are, please post here. Thanks!

It's probably a common, non-metric size. I'll bet you can find a replacement by measuring it. Or look for something called a Parbak ring, instead of a split Teflon ring it's a very high durometer rating buna-neoprene ring with a concave side to accept the o-ring. These reduce the failure that's common with the split Teflon ring.
