6 bay SS w/laundromat
We had for over 25 years in our bays single coin acceptance with Parker's & GinSan's single coin acceptors with fewer than 4 problems with heavy use over those 25 years. By appearances & by what Doug Parker alluded to is that the GinSan is basically the same when it came to the single coin acceptor. Maybe just cosmetic differences ... not sure. Doug was honest enough to point out to me that their single coin acceptance acceptors were more trouble free. I do say while my first hand several years now experience with Microcoin QL in the bays is almost as good but not quite as good as a higher denomination single coin approach. Doug Parker had told me that it was just a matter of filing out the upper coin slot & putting the dollar coin in the comparative slot in place of the quarter to go that route. Thanks guys. I will check those out. I only use quarters so I don't really need multi coin acceptance but I want reliability. Slugbusters have been pretty good. I really am not too impressed with Sensortron.
For the less hostile environment wet wise outdoor vacuums we went the route of IDX simply because we liked the class c relay isolation of it & it turned out that they have outlasted the Imonex that we tested simultaneously with the used IDX. The used IDX 6 coin have been trouble free once we took them out of the wet inside self service bays & put them on the vacuums. They work in conjunction with the very reliable Dixmor LED7s.
Based on your choice of preferring to stay single coin the following is absolutely relevant IMHO! If the ICA & enough others in the car wash industry had stayed the course in letting politicians know that firm enough public policy relating to coin & paper $1 dollar bill replacement with it was & still is needed ... the single coin acceptors would have been & still can be a great plus & the best fit. Hopefully, it is not too late for the "best public interest served" worthwhile correction & another option for many of us ... it might only happen with enough unity among self service operators including us in the self service car wash industry.
Based on the extremely dynamic Coin Laundry Association forum ... numerous wise laundromat operators in all parts of the USA are going the single coin dollar coin acceptor route for a long list of reasons including not giving a blank check to whatever the current "norm" might be for merchant fees & latest potential encryption compliance updating requirements.
There will always be some who will ignore the better evidence though ... not just at their own peril but for the majority of others also!!! As always ... in my humble opinion ... of course.
