Strange issue with Washworld Razor

It just happened right now.
1. Prox switch is on the flag and lit up.
2. No error message on the display when it happened, now WASH OUT OF SERVICE (15min) and then CAR STUCK IN BAY.

Looks like your prox has been scraping that flag. Look at the face of the prox and replace it if there is any damaged at all. If it is scraping, your rollers could be wearing out causing it to drift into the flag.

Yeah this is a head scratcher. I was looking at the same thing as APW. Shake your arch north and south and see how much play your trolley has in it. Watch and see if that prox comes on and off when you do it.

I would third that the prox is damaged from running the plate.

Usually when they are damaged, they will turn on from water (even with no metal near). By the time you look at it, it's dried out enough for the light to turn off again. I never trust any prox that has had the sensing head damaged where water could intrude, or any metallic component shows through the scrape or dent.

One thing I want to add. Check the distance between your rails all the way down. It should be 145.5". I had an issue last week with my Razor 4 where a prox was missing a flag and slamming the rails and causing a weird problem. I adjusted both rails back to where they should be and the problem went away.

On the first pic, rear limit, front limit and home limit are all lit. Is that correct? If it were my old side trac machine, those 3 being lit would mean a false input from either front or rear because the machine can't be in both front and rear at the same time.

These are scratches from the old prox switch

There is hardly any movement. All good and the prox stays on.

Nice observation! I spoke to my technician and he is going to talk to Washworld. I think this question came up years ago and as far as I remember Washworld said this was okay. But we will confirm that.

Maybe the solution!?!???

Yesterday the arch damaged a customer's car! It was too close to his extended side mirror. When it hit the mirror one of the nozzles scratched his door.
Anyway, I watched the footage over and over again and discovered that the more the arch was going around the car the closer it got to the side mirror until it hit it.
I opened the cover and noticed that the trolley belt was quite a bit loose. I am thinking now could it be that because the belt was so loose every time the trolley motor started it jumped a tooth? And by the end of the wash it doesn't know where it is anymore...
But then again my technician says Washworld sends out the machine with pretty loose belts all the time....

Honestly, I am not sure. What are your thoughts?
And by the way - thank you all for letting me pick your brains :)))

They send the machine with loose belts? What does that have to do with anything?! the technician is the one that is responsible for making sure the machine is set up properly and all of the correct adjustments are made. Belt adjustment is even in the service reminder checklist. If you suspect that the belts are loose you should tighten them. The procedure is in the service and installation manual.
Sounds like it may be time to cut the technician loose and get someone else to take a look.

Hi Eric, I'm still not sure if the belts were that loose. I tightened them anyway...and my technician said he tightens them always as ".... Washworld sends them out with loose belts all the time."
And NO I don't think it's time to look for another technician.

A loose belt that is jumping belt teeth will definitely cause what is going on with your machine. It throws the counter off just like a worn out gearbox would. It changes the wash envelope. When the trolley goes back to its home position the right limit will come on and the trolley needs to move like 4 more pulses before it will come to a stop. When you drive the trolley home and see it hesitate that means it sees the right limit and slows down a bit so it can count the pulses. The Trolley counter prox needs to be on basically at the same time that right limit comes on that way there is less of a delay for it to count pulses if that makes sense. Every time that belt would jump that counter would move which would throw the calibration off.

I agree. Sounds like it’s skipping or gear box is worn.

Okay guys,
Sorry, I was away with no phone reception.
The Razor has now worked flawlessly since I discovered the problem. For the records:
The slack doesn't look much and first I wouldn't believe it but it seems this was the issue.
It seems whenever the motor started moving it jumped a tooth. I also noticed that the belt goes past a grease tube very closely. A slightly loose belt could have hit the tube which also could have contributed to the issue.
Well, thank you all very much for the brainstorming. I hope this is now all fixed😃👍

BTW sometimes I had a knock when the bridge was travelling North-South and never could figure out what that was. I also tightened the belts for the bridge. It's still to early to say but that knock hasn't appeared again. Maybe this belt also jumped a tooth...
I think I've heard the same knock in a video I saw from Diamond carwash.
