Any ideas or how much hose is supposed to rest on ground when nozzle is in its place so it’s safe for vehicles to get in and out? Trying to avoid hose getting caught in cars trucks and bending boom causing damage. Ty

We keep ours about 6 " or 7" off the bay floor when the gun is in the holder. You don't want the hose to be dragging on the bay floor when the customer is using it, they don't last very long when they are dragged on the bay floor.

Been doing this for many years and every installation...
HP hoses = boom to floor length + 3 ft.
FB hoses = boom to floor length + 4 ft.

I like the bottom of the HP hose to be at or just below my knee while I'm washing the side of a car. Where does your measurement put the low point?

Yeah, right about knee height works nicely.

And, each location is different...there is no standard hose length.
13' headroom? 16' headroom? Somewhere in between?
Straight or "Z" boom?
Extended boom mounting bracket or flush to the purlins?

My bays are a little longer but I use 15’ hose. I wrap all in bay hoses with
NFSGX25 Crush Resistant Spiral Hose Guard - 0.8 Inch ID X 66
It works great.
I don’t want the gun to reach the coin/credit card boxes because some customers spray the box's to try to get free wash’s. It doesn’t and all they do is the water freezes witch takes along time to thaw before I can dry them.

I use 11' HP hoses with a swivel saver. If I used a hose so short that the gun can't reach the box, they'd be maybe 6' long and the gun wouldn't reach the floor by several feet.

Do you guys hoses bust a leak first, or wear out somehwere, first? Mine busts somewhere, before wearing out.

I keep an eye on them and replace them before they break. They usually break near the gun, and the early sign is rust stains coming out of the cracks in the hose. Sometimes I find a bubble of rust in the mid-length of the hose where it will eventually break. I don't use a bend restrictor at the gun because I've had the hose burst under it, which I didn't catch because I couldn't see the signs.

I have short 20' bays so I use a hose shorter than most people. I currently use the mosmatic comfort hose in a 12' length with no swivel saver extension. It forces large trucks to park carefully in the bay and reduces runoff outside the bays.

Haven't had to replace a comfort hose yet, I think I've had them in at use at a busy SS at least a Year.
