Advice on putting up FRP walls in IBA

Gonna put up the white vinyl plastic walls in my IBA. It is brick walls. Should i go straight into the brick / concrete, or put up wood rails & screw it into the wood rails?

Outta curiosity, why not put up boards, & screw them into those boards? Rot out too quick?

To me, it seems like an extra step, more chance of wear with wood and when you say boards - if you mean strips or struts, you could get some flexing of the FRP. Going directly into the brick gives you the most rigid and rugged backing IMO.

Be sure to allow for the thermal expansion and contraction of the FRP. That means NOT butting the adjacent panels, but instead, leaving a small gap against the connectors. Same with the holes drilled for the plastic rivets. They should be oversized to allow the panels to flex slightly. That's why the rivets have large heads.

If you don't so as I suggest, the panels will buckle when it gets hot outside and crack.

And pre-drill panel holes to 5/16" for 1/4" plastic rivet anchors. This allows for panel movement from temperature change without warping.
