Has anyone installed the Hamilton Goldline IDTECH cc retrofit kit or an IDTECH on a Goldline door?

How does the cc fee from IDTECH compare to the other processors?

any I insights would be appreciated as we consider the upgrade.

Dont switch too fast. I just got a brand new commander set up and within a day of it being powered up the IDTECH reader failed.

Roz, what is this IDTECH retrofit? Your question regarding 'it's' fee makes it sound like its a third party card processing solution like cryptopay or nayax etc. Do you have a link to it?

Not third party. It is a new door with the IDTECH installed from Hamilton. It is the only solution that they support. They do not make or support the CryptoPay retrofit that KR sells.
KR retrofit door with CryptoPay on it but they buy doors from Hamilton and add the CP device.

I hear that Dencar is making a retrofit kit for AWC and Goldlines. Going to check that solution out now at the Show.

I wonder if the issue is the IDTECH or the Commander. I hear too many people with commander issues which makes me pause on that upgrade path. Thx

Got it. Didn't know KR had a retrofit door! I have a Goldline that I simply added the swiper to.

If you're talking to Dencar, would you mind asking if they are considering a Unitec Portal Door?

I think the answer is yes but will check and post pics if the kit is at the show.

I think the new door is so you can cover the hole left by the old cc swiper.

Some details on this from Hamilton. I’m very disappointed the customer must follow a sequential step process to successfully complete a transaction. For me this is a not a solution. I’m bummed as I was holding out for this upgrade. Looks like Dencar retrofit will be the answer for emv transactions for not much more than Hamilton’s retrofit. Of Course cryptopay retrofits remain and option but the support finger pointing remains an issue.

With Unitec announcing the end of the Wash Select II, I can’t help but think the Goldline might be next.

IDtech Door retrofit part # 100-0392 $4712.60

GL3 controller part # 49-9684 $1166 (needed if not currently running this controller)

The door retrofit comes with:
Goldline door

IDtech VP6800 card reader, reads chip cards, can do tap transactions, and has swipe for gift/CVC cards.

Red display

Lexan panel

Buttons

Coin chutes

Keypad

It does not include the coin mechs, printer, or lock inserts.

It no longer needs the DAN to process credit cards. The DAN is needed if you use hosted solutions.

E-xact is no longer used with this card reader.

Merchant processor is Worldpay, integrated with IDtech.

Customers will need to press a button inorder to use credit cards with this setup. They cannot just insert card before selecting wash, and pressing the green button.

Thank you for sharing especially the pic of the door as I wondered what it looks like! Better than my current swipe setup but as you mention I think Dencar will start to give them a run for their money IF they can deliver products in a timely manner. The retrofit doors are still 4 months away assuming they are on schedule. Anyhow debating the two paths as Hosted Solutions is a bit dated and updates are extremely slow. Took them over a year of staying on top of them to find a global bug in their app. Seemed to say it is the customers fault when in the end it was a programming issue. Not ragging on Hamilton as their tech support people are good, just frustrated with the outdated system. In the fence as to the upgrade path I take in the next week.

I ordered two a while ago. Suppose to get them real IMG_5031.jpeg soon. I have been running IDTECH readers in my Bays since 10/23. They work well. Slow transaction time for the self serve tho, but the customers love the Convenience of paying with your phone.

Struggling with Hamilton as to their IDTech solution to the Goldline and pricing of over $3,500 per unit Plus Plus..

Crypto Pay has solution but no chip and must use Worldpay processing.

Car Wash Services (Steve) has an integrated board that would pair up with a Nayax (swipe, chip and tap) for about $1,500 per station. Utilizing cell service (as vending machines) and no need for internet or PCI compliance. Who will be doing the support when I can't accept payment?

Any feedback? I'm extremely ignorant when it comes down to this type of stuff. Appreciate any feedback of those who actually have installed either system and have a preference or regret.

3 conventions and still not certain as to what direction to take. I love my Goldlines and not interested in new equipment for $70k+

Our Goldlines have been bullet proof. Sometimes the simple solution is the best approach.

We were early beta testers of the first EMV CC reader about two years ago. Plus side was that it fit into the existing swiper cc area so no door replacement.

unfortunately it had three major flaws so we removed the reader after three horrible weeks of testing.

green wake-up button was on the reader and easy for customers to overlook.

the screen and fonts were small and poorly lit so very hard to read.

WorldPay processing cost us a bit more (1-2%) than Chase which we currently use for the swipe reader and the processing time was noticeably longer than the swiper processing time (that seems to be instantaneous).

the new door retrofit appears to have solved at least two of the issues. The green wake-up button pops and stands out such that it is harder to miss.

the CC reader screen is much larger, has larger size fonts, and is nicely lit.

no idea if the slow processing times have been addressed as it could have been a hardware, software, or WorldPay caused issue.

I like the look of the Dencar retrofit door but concerned about the lack of installations to see how it behaves in the field. Conventions are controlled demos so real life could be very different. At first read the operating costs for Dencar seem to be higher than expected as you need to pay for tech support on a monthly basis whereas ICS and Hamilton include that service as part of the monthly fee. Some of the selling features of the Dencar model are options you need to pay extra for so one needs to total all the associated costs to get a complete picture.

In addition they were evasive on the CC processing fees that Payroc and Dencar charge. If we go down the Dencar retrofit door path and it is a disaster it is hard to undo whereas if we use the Hamilton retrofit door and it is a disaster we can swap the old door back into place and switch back to Chase. A pain in the ass for sure but at least we are not trapped in a broken solution.

We are still talking to both companies and have not made a decision as of this note. Hope to have a decision and solution in place this summer but the fact that both solutions are still under development to a degree who knows.

Looks nice. they also moved the keypad to be closer to eye level which is a smart move.
Curious how long it takes for the machine to process a credit card. In theory it should be faster than a swipe transaction (at least that is the case with most processors I have seen).

Wow I thought a $5 Basic wash was history given the rising costs of everything.

It isn’t quicker to process as far as I can tell, it is slower. I dont know how you can get quicker then a mag stripe. You really need a new updated voice module with this upgrade, not included. They add many more voice prompts to help the customer. I also added push the green button in the welcome prompt for electronic payment. WashU and Jet Brite both are almost next door and have a basic $5 wash. So far I am impressed with the machine.

Update. You do need to use the hamilton handheld to do more of the install. I also learned you need the handheld to get revenue reports now. The red buttons on the controller do nothing. The customer receipts are more detailed and show the users credit card information In smaller type.

Interesting

I expect that Hosted Solutions will still show the reports online and on the phone.

how long did it take to install?

I think it is 6 screws inside the door and disconnecting some wires and connecting the new wires.

The Kit includes a new door with some accessories and wires, power supply, network switch, all the wires and I purchased a voice chip and new controller. I reused my scanner with cord and coin acceptors. It took a few hours to lay all that out and route the wires. I also had to cut the brick so the reader will not hit it. You program the cashiers in DAN on the admin side in google chrome or with the handheld. Mark at Hamilton took a hour or so testing and programming all the functions. It is a great upgrade and I plan on doing more, I am sure the next one will go quicker.

$4,700 is the basic cost that includes the door. If you need a new controller or voice chip that’s more. Yes I believe you need a new door. They layout has changed substantially with the addition of another green button, they also moved the QR code scanner up which is in a much bettter place.
