Softgloss Max 5… “please wait equipment not ready” this is the message on our kiosk, but inside cw screen says “no problems seen” Any ideas? Thanks

I don’t have that machine…. It sounds like unit is not fully at home position. Might be bad or loose prox switch at home. Also check for bad or loose prox switch at treddle. Reset machine abd ACW. Manually move the gantry to entrance end and allow to resset.

please advise the fix,

Good morning and thanks for your response! In home position and resets have been checked and are good. Rebooted ACW and CW. Can get one car through ok then the next wash accepts payment but no green light to proceed into the CW. Screen on ACW says processing and doesn’t change from that. Reset everything again and put money in select cw, then says “ equipment not ready again” seems to do fine on the 1st CW after resetting several times but then back to equipment not ready….hmmmmm

The problem is probably inside of your Goldline ACW. Depending on the age of your Goldine ACW there are 2 different relay panels. One has removable relays, the other one the relays aren't removable, they are built into the relay pan. If you have the relay pan that the relays are removable you want to look at the CI relay or Cycle inhibit. The wash equipment sends a signal back to the ACW telling the ACW that I'm ready for the next wash. If it doesn't get that signal the ACW will say Car wash busy or some on those lines.If you have the relay pan that doesn't have the removable relays your going to have to send your relay pan into Hamilton and have it repaired. Just hope and pray you don't need a new relay pan they are almost $600.00. Call Hamilton on Monday morning.

I’m still going with issue at a prox switch. Check at treddle plate might need tighten or adjust for proper reading. Same with home prox switch. Sounds like intermittent reading of switch. Also make sure relays at ACW are not loose.

On a SGMX5, as the machine comes back to the home position and reset occurs, we are looking for the vehicle in the wash to exit. This varies a little depending on what vintage machine you have, and what types of bayplates (physical or phototyes). We are looking for transitions of these as the vehicle exits to know it's clear for the next vehicle. Once that happens, we drop the power from the PLC output for "control power". This is wire # 92. It goes low for about 1.5 seconds, and this is the "wash in use" signal. Once this comes back up, most kiosks use this as the indicator that it can send the next wash to the SGMX5.

If you have an older model with a treadle, we are looking for a loss of bayplate, a pulse of the backup airswitch, then the tire finder photoeye has to transition. This needs to happen twice, in sequential order to know that the vehicle pulled forward and out of the bay. If you have a newer model using photoeye bayplates, same concept except the gantry and bayplate photoeyes need to see eachother again, and we are looking for a pulse of the tire finder photoeye. Once this happens, you should see the control power output transition.

If those inputs don't transition properly, the program doesn't know that the vehicle left, and it won't be ready for the next vehicle in order to prevent it from starting with the rear tires blocking the bayplate. In both models though, there is a "vehicle detect timeout" where after 5 minutes (this is adjustable), it can reset and be ready to wash the next vehicle. Once it resets, the kiosk should detect that signal and be ready.

I'm going to assume you have a setup using a physical bayplate on the floor and an air hose as the backup air switch. the machine needs to know the vehicle pulled forward and that it has left the bay before that control power will drop low for it to receive the next wash package from the kiosk.

The way they PLC will know is that while the machine is performing the wash, the vehicle is on the bayplates. This is PLC input X24. At the end of the wash, the vehicle will pull forward off the bayplate, so X24 should go off. The vehicle should slowly drive forward, and this should pulse the backup air switch PLC input X25. It should go on, then off again. Next, the front tire should block the tire finder photoeye, PLC input X20. As the vehicle continues exiting the bay, the rear tire should force the same things to happen. X28 on, then off. X25 on, then off. X20 should be on, go off, then back on again. Once this has happened for both the front and rear tires, you should see PLC output Y4 go off, then about 1.5 seconds later, it should come on again. This entire sequence is called "vehicle detect". It must happen IN ORDER. If something happens out of order, it will look like the vehicle is backing up. After it happens in order, it will be ready for the kiosk to send the next signal.

To make it easier, just think 1-2-3-1-2-3. Bayplate is 1. Backup airswitch is 2. Tire photoeye is 3. If something is missing (like the backup airswitch input), that would be 1-3-1-3. Vehicle detect isn't satisfied, so it won't be ready to be armed until the vehicle detect timer times out.

Sounds complicated, but it's all there to prevent vehicle 1 from backing up and stealing vehicle 2's wash, or accidentally starting vehicle 2's wash because someone is hanging out in the dryer too long and backing up for a better dry.

There may be a toggle switch located inside the goldline that sets the goldline to look for a constant on relay or a pulse. I would first find that switch and try the opposite position from where it is set. It is easy to bump the switch and cause the problem you are describing.

that's why guys like me take a sharpie and mark the position the switch is supposed to be in! "Dummy proof"

Update and Thankyou for the lead. We ended up resetting our computer box for our DAN system. Things are up and running for the moment anyway. Thank you all for your ideas and leads!!

we don’t have a bay plate, ours is only 5 years old but looking into replacing it.

The inputs will vary depending on the exact model, but there is an I/O chart inside the electrical cabinet door on the right side.

First place I would look is the tire finder photoeye. Make sure it's clean, and that someone hadn't run over it.
