I'm shocked to see in the for sale section that Kimberly Berg is listing her wash. She is an example of women entrepreneur being successful in a male dominant business. Best of luck in her future endeavors.
Totally agree. Class act, great contributor to the forum and awesome looking wash that is clearly maintained at the highest level. There is a time for everyone to walk away.

When it's time it's time. I remember talking with Galen Haddock (some older members may remember him) when he finally sold. He turned down a reasonable offer many years before and then the economy turned. IIRC he said it was nearly ten years before he got another good offer.

Hi friends, I was surprised to see this lovely post. I appreciate your compliments and good wishes. 🥰 I'm doing good and staying healthy. Running a SS car wash for 21 years is starting to take it's toll on me mentally and physically. When I purchased the car wash in 2003, it was run-down. Over 20 years, I pushed hard to make all the improvements. Now, it's beautiful, modern and CRAZY BUSY!! At the very time that I feel that I should be relaxing and enjoying the fruits of my labor, I'm feeling burned out. I currently have 2 PT employees, and looking for a 3rd to take on more responsibilities. My sisters have moved closer to me and would love to spend more time with me. I wish I had sons, uncles, nephews to pass this car wash to. It's been a true labor of love, and a turn-key gem for the next person.

Recently, I upgraded 5 old Mark VII vacuums with new Doyle vacuums. Unfortunately, we had a lot of problems with Doyle's motors and the blame-game between Doyle, their motor company and my commercial electrcians took a lot out of me! 😣 I'll post an update on that soon. I was so excited about the new vacuums in March, but soured by August! 80% failure rate. I'm sure many of you can relate... Also, entitled and inconsiderate customers, dealing with the public, unexpected repairs, working outside long hours cleaning, etc.

Kimberly,
I relate to the dilemma of passing a successful business on without any family members interested. I've taken note of other business owners selling and moving to other towns, cities, even states to avoid driving by and cirquing how the business looks. Keep the forum posted and thank you for your input.

As someone who purchased their first car wash 1 year ago, from my neighbor. I was blown away when I found out the volume of cars that used this carwash in my small town, with competition from another in town. Young people, I'm not young, are looking for opportunities but are unaware of what is out there and that the business can support a loan.

My neighbor tried to sell for about a year when I finally asked him to show me the financials. I couldn't get to the bank fast enough. It is a lot of work but I'm at a stage in life where it worked for me.

Best of wishes for you in your free time Kim.
