My main issue with the caps has been keeping the hose at the right length in the bucket. That's really the only reason I went with a barb splice.

I use hot water pvc, drill the correct size hole in the cap for the pvc, run my suction hose through the pvc, install the foot valve on the hose & stand the pipe up with the cap screwed on. When its time to change the bucket just unscrew the whole setup & install it on the new bucket.

Great Idea....But why Hot Water CPVC instead of regular white PVC? There are no joints that can fail....

I do the same as Jimbeaux, and the reason I use the high temp stuff is because the inner diameter is a better fit..

I like this idea! The hose I use is 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD...I need to cut a section of it and go on the hunt!

Right now, I don't let the level get down to within 3" of the bottom. I can see letting it get down even closer if you know the FV is face down and touching the bottom of the pale...Thanks!

I let it get to the last half-inch so what's left will fit into the new bucket.

Yeah, Bighead is right on. I've used this set-up for years & never had to replace one. If the cap on the bucket is changed to a different size/style just drill the new cap & your back in business.

I can't imagine this working. There is no use of relays, check valves, PLCs, thermostats, or any extra wires. This is simply not complicated or costly enough to work.

I use regular PVC. I do not understand why the width really matters?

I DO understand how the plc helps. :)
