I have a mars VN 2511 bill acceptor that is giving an error of 3 flashes of the led which means "needs cleaning". I cleaned the bill path, and reset power to the unit. I still have the same error. Any suggestions?
I am using it in a soda machine. The odd thing is I went in today and the error light is not flashing anymore and it is accepting bills just fine. Do these things go through some kind of a sequence after you clean them before the error will clear? You've got a bad LED board. The only thing you can do is replace it or send it in for repair.
What are you using it in? The VN2511 is kind of an odd ball validator.
No they don’t go through some kind of a sequence after you clean them before the error will clear. The cleaning error will come On when the validator senses to many bill rejections, once you clean the validator the error should go away. When you cleaned the validator did you also clean the upper LED Housing and the prism on the stacker? How old is this validator? When was the last time it was serviced? I'd send it in for service, replace it or get a spare. I don't have any 110 volt VN validators or I'd send you one to try.I am using it in a soda machine. I clean everything when I have these validators apart. It has been serviced about a year ago. I haven't had any problems since. I will probably just let it go until it dies. The pop machine sits next to the changer anyways. No they don’t go through some kind of a sequence after you clean them before the error will clear. How far apart did you take it when you cleaned it? All you should have to do to clean it is remove the lower transport clean it and then clean the upper LED housing. If it's working now I think I'd probably just let it run until it didn't work anymore then worry about it.I clean everything when I have these validators apart. It has been serviced about a year ago.
