On a side note: Imo, I think the tri-foam or polish step of your wash should be the one area not to "cut" chemical costs. Customers love just to see all three vibrant and fragrant colors, that's why they pay for the upgrade. But think when they get in there, they wonder where all the colors are...

I like to use Rhino Coat, from Red Rhino. Good stuff. Comes in a 6gal pail, only using 4-6ml of solution per color per car. Nice and vibrant with good cherry fragrances at even 6ml's. So if you think about it, this pail can last anywhere from 3785-5678 washes respectivley. Costing at $118 per...

You would be surprised that just at 2 GPG hardness approx 5oz of soap is destroyed per 100 gallons of hard water, 4GPG 10oz, 6GPG 15oz. So I think selecting products that are hard water tolerant or contain conditioners.

You could be using too much product. You know how many mL or Oz's of tri-color your using per vehicle? Also where is the tri foam application process in your wash? And what is the consistency of your foam? You want a dri foam for easy rinsing, as opposed the wet type foam of the presoak application.

Exterior: Fresh coat of paint on the curbs, white and yellow are good colors to go with, white representing cleanliness and yellow being the color people most recognize. Good lighting is always a plus, seeing is how most car wash customers are women; just a plus. Maybe keeping your Car Wash sign...

To me, that just sounds like way too much prepping. To me, if you have a bug arch (prior to tunnel), and you live in an area where mud,clay, etc road films are not a big deal, then little/no manual prepping should have to be done to the car, and the tunnel chemistry can actually do what it's...

As you may notice, I'm new to the whole car wash industry, so my question posed was just to help me understand more about certain applications. Thanks for the input though guys. I realize now how broad and challenging it would be to actually create an industry average, but it was worth a try.
