    Tokens

Red, Out of curiosity have you used tokens the entire 3.5 years that you have had no vandalism. How have you been sorting your tokens, manually, a tray, or a machine? I had a location with zero vandalism the first five years it was open and then three punks took a sledge hammer and demolished...

    Keeping water warm,

I run a Watlow immersion heater in my hot water holding tank for my self serve. I run cold rinse. I figure the electric is free in the winter because the heat loss helps heat the equipment room. Dultmeier sales handles the Watlow heaters. Doug P.

What is the best value to place on tokens?

I used the IDX coded tokens with slugbuster II's for years and never once had a problem. They do not read the code on the tokens but they are made of a good quality alloy that reads different from cheap tokens. Doug P.

    Numbers

I have been in and around the biz for over thirty years, and weather has been my number one variable for car wash volume. I also think increased competition and higher gas prices are a strong 2nd and 3rd place. Doug P.

    Looking To Upgrade My Automatic

I replaced a Magic Wand oval track with a Mark VII GT500 last year. My automatic volume tripled. The oval track had been installed in 1991 and was long overdue for replacement, business had really fell off the last couple of years. I bought Mark VII because of my distributor. I have been a...

    what would you add

I have TP and RainX at 2 locations. I have TP only at 2 locations. I have RainX only at 2 locations. RainX gets more usage and the delivery system is cheaper, of course the RainX product is much more expensive. The last 2 locations I remodeled last year were the 2 with RainX only.

    Vending Blog #2

One of these units is a 5 column little tree electronic vendor the other one is a three column that sells wet towels, armorall sponges, and dry towels(paper). The 5 column is doing Ok but the 3 column is very slow. I removed two fragramatics fragrance machines and put these vendors in their...

    In-Bay Air Dryers

I don't have head to head experience but I have Air Shammees at three locations. I have been pleased overall and they do get some usage. From what I have read on the forum I would try to go with a 360 boom next time. Doug P.

Water in pumps of Mark VII autos

Tom, I have three GT500's in service with Cat pumps. Do I need covers on my pumps or was this just for the Armitsus. Doug P.

    Cat Oil in Cat Pump?

Someone posted about this a day or two ago. They explained that the Cat pump oil would mix with any water that entered the crankcase and keep lubricating everything that needed lubricating. They said regular oil would not mix with the water as easily and you may have water in contact with the...

    Saving energy and money

The "Demand" line on your electric is another charge beside the KWH charge. The demand charge is generally only a fraction of your total bill but when you make your money a quarter at a time everything needs to be considered. Higher voltage will result in a lower demand(measured by amperage)...

How does a $3 Start sound? Too Much?

This is a very interesting ideal. I am at $1 for 2.5 min at most of my locations but I just raised one to $2 for 5 min a couple of months ago as a test. I dispense dollar tokens and or dollar coins at most locations and have bill acceptors at most locations. I thought about raising my startup...

Cat pump seals (what a scam)!

I am probably a little slow but I fail to see how the fact that a business is making a lot of money means that you should not worry about the cost of your supplies. I agree that the kits for the big Cat pumps seem overpriced. However when you compare the price of a kit with the price of a new...

Water in pumps of Mark VII autos

I bought a new GT500 four years ago and both of the original Armitsu pumps failed within 18 months and one of the replacement Armitsus failed last year. I now have Cats on both sides of the machines. I just pulled a ten year old Mark7 out of service and I never touched the Cat pump on the...

    Saving energy and money

The 250W 480V pulls about the same amps as the 55W 120V bulb but a watt is a watt regardless of voltage. All power companies bill by the watt so the 250W bulb will cost 4.55 times as much to run as the 55W.
