Membrane manufacturers will tell you that if the system isn't run for 1 week, the membrane needs to be pulled and put in preservative. Most people don't do this, but you're pushing your luck with shutdowns greater than a week in most cases.

Nice! Do you have a standard Clack 2" valve, or a 2" Heavy valve? The 2" Heavy has Modbus communication capabilities, but not built in WiFi.

The check valve should be on the permeate (RO water tube) AFTER it comes out of the membrane, before it tees into any other tubes/pipes.

Is the water level in the brine tank normal/typical? Or is it high/overflowing? Is the system using salt (do you see the salt level go down with normal use)? If not - have you checked for a salt bridge? Do you see a constant flow to drain while the softener is in service? What is the...

in other words, run a manual regen

Just completed a maintenance project on water treatment equipment at a university laboratory bldg. All that expensive high tech gear laid low by something as simple as... a salt bridge and some neglected maintenance on the softener.

Thought about that... but that would affect both tanks, not just one.

As long as the check valve works 100%... you should be ok. But that pump will destroy itself if ever run dry.
