    Lookin At Wash For Sale

I agree with OurTown. Unfortunately the automatic is one of the old style D&S that does not measure a car and treats everything like a box. Not going to be something you would want to keep - very old technology. Do your homework on the traffic count population etc. like was stated.

Do I need hot water for touch- free automatic

You’re one lucky guy if that is what your competition is doing to paint!

    Touchless cost per car

Agreed. Operators really need to do their due diligence on soil type , chemicals, success of other wash types and clientele before committing to either type of wash. Once you install, it’s too late and you most likely will be living with that machine 10+ years. You have to know that what...

Small Town, no in bay automatic

800 population and 1600 are low counts. Aside from car counts, you have to ask where that population is going. I’m not sure if people on their way to or from camping or hiking are interested in cleaning their car that close to the site. If it were me, I’d wash when I get home, you’re only...

    Treadle switch

Is it a mercury switch? Not sure if you can just off the shelf that - for that machine/treadle but I wouldn’t see why not if it is a mercury switch...

    Great idea, or horrible idea?

Signage that says “owned by firemen”, some hot lava products, turtle wax fire and ice, hot carnauba - I see a theme for this wash, coach!!! Maybe call it Five Alarm Car Wash

    Touchless cost per car

I don’t have a touchless IBA so I can’t tell you how much the cost per car is. Many operators on this forum can, however. You are correct on all of your assumptions. There are limitations on both and the decision should be based on which one will give you more customers. Any new machine...

Tri foam with high pressure gun

I agree. The thickest you are going to be able to get would be about the same as a low pressure presoak running through the gun. Maybe a tiny bit more foam with the trifoam if it is a high foaming product, but the difference would probably not even be discernible. Either way, no blankets of...

    Surfline Tandem

I was away the other day and saw a PDQ Surfline Tandem for the first time and was very impressed. It’s a three brush, two bridge design that has an open feeling. It washed my car very well- great front and back coverage and it reverses brush direction at the side view mirrors to get both...

$1.50 for 20 wash tokens - Funny story!

Is that why you have the competition washing at your place, Kimberly? 😂

    New to the Carwash business

Remember - not every customer wants a monthly membership, which I am guessing the tunnels you are mentioning have. Many people are happy to “pay as you go” and even if they want to wash once every six weeks for $10, that eFusion friction wash will clean their car.

Monorail?? Unknown in bay at our wash

I think you might be thinking of the Navigator by Pro - they might still be in business.

Monorail?? Unknown in bay at our wash

Yes - the Monorails were made in upstate New York. Eric H is right - they also had a self serve line of equipment that was much more widely used than the IBA. The IBA just never took off and I have only seen one in person and that was decades ago.

    Great idea, or horrible idea?

We often see on this forum: “I’m selling the wash for its land value” or “the wash is only worth the dirt it is on”. I think that speaks volumes to what that could mean down the road when it’s time to get out of the deal. It’s really requires careful consideration because if the business...

    New to the Carwash business

I’m always in favor of keeping an automatic or replacing it if you can. You get a whole other type of customer with an automatic and the income potential is almost always better than a single ss bay. That being said, the fusion is a notoriously complex machine compared to others, and if this...
