Is there an advantage to doing it that way as opposed to just paying saying tax when you purchase the supplies? Seems like extra record keeping that way.

Maybe I misunderstood your original post. I thought you were saying you were charging sales tax on the items in your vending machine and then calculating how much you owed.

Why do you need to 'clear' the memory? Just program it to what you need....wash names, prices, token values, welcome prompts etc. The running counters don't even come zeroed out when brand new. You can reset all the other counters yourself.
