    bay empty

It has been a while since I had to program my goldlines but as I recall you can set the amount of time the signal is sent to your automatic. I had to set mine to the longest duration which is 4 seconds I think. When it was on a shorter signal often times the automatic would not recognize the...

    Ryko thrust pro dryer connections

If you do not have a PLC control you can stagger the motors with some delay relay timers. I just added some sonny dryers to a location that uses the RYKO PLC to start my slim line dryers. I bought some eaton single pole delay relays that work with volts from 12 to 240 and programable delay for...

    rejuvenating plastic vacuum domes

I have stainless domes on mine and added a few outdoor flood lights to sit on top of the dome. Some come on when the vac is activated so people can see in their cars at night better. In areas where I wanted more light at night and did not have a pole light etc. I added 2 or 3 to the top of vac...

    Sonny's custom Air Fresheners.

I ordered a bunch of the custom bomb fresheners years ago. People would not buy them and it took me years to get rid of them. I finally just started giving them away

    Lighting questions

I retrofitted some 42 wATT cfl fixture to LED by removing the old ballasts and installing a regular light socket. I bought some 60 watt LIthonia LED bulbs from Home depot for $60 about 3 years ago. I have not had a single failure and the bulbs are probably cheaper now. Look for the lumens per...

    Lighting questions

Generally you should have 20,000 lumens per SS bay and 30,000 lumens per automatic bay at minimum with a 5000 to 6000K color index of the lights.

    Wash Shutting Down

I used to have a friction IBA and this problem was very common. I got rid of the treadle and replaced it with the wide pressure pad like the one mentioned. ON the original setup the tire would touch up against a raised angle iron and would be depressing the treadle. Many times the customer would...

    Pricing

I just got a Google review this week ranting about how I just keep raising my prices all the time and the car wash is not a good value anymore. He was posting about my IBAs. Truth is I have not raised my automatic prices in over 10 years. I guess I should raise them to stay in line with...

    Cashless Car Wash

I think by going all cashless you would be eliminating 30 to 40% of the potential business. In my experience SS car washes now get around 60% of their business with credit cards and cash makes up the rest. It could be different for others but that is what I see.

Problems with the strain relief guard on coiled hoses breaking at the base?

I use about a 1 foot piece of clear vinyl reinforced tubing. I use the 3/8 coiled foam brush hose so I buy 1/2 inch reinforced hose. It slips right over the 3/8 hose. I put it on before the reusable swivel fitting. Then I can slide the hose down over the first part of the brass fitting that...

Unlimited monthly wash plans or memberships

Doug P. I have only been pushing the unlimited plan for a few months so my member rate is not very high yet but I do see it picking up. I added 2 yesterday. I am seeing mostly high end cars and truck who do not want to use a friction express wash. Since I have 2 IBA people do not have to wait...

Unlimited monthly wash plans or memberships

On my monthly plans I am seeing between 5 to 6 washes per month. Last month I had 2 people wash 11 times but the rest were much lower. As the new wears off the number of washes per customer decreases per month in my experience.

    Storm Chaser Roofing Companies

Our area had a severe hail storm back in April. About golf ball size hail or less. Many roofing companies have moved in and new roofs are being installed all over our valley. On a fiberglass roof the shingles get damaged easier than a metal or shake roof. I have not seen any metal roofs being...

    Any thoughts on "Corn" bulbs?

I have used several corn cob bulbs in my washes. Most are 60 watt lithonia bulbs I got from Home depot a few years ago for $60 each. I have not had a single one fail yet. I also used a few of these in my garage at home on the door openers. Makes what was a dark place seem like a operating room...

Low fume Muratic acid available at home depot, paint stores Lowes etc. Dilute it 2 parts water to 1 part acid. spray or brush on and let it sit 20 to 30 seconds. Then use same solution on a soft brush and gently scrub then rinse it off with water. It will clean paint, fiberglass or stainless.

    Touchless best chemicals?

It is hard for me tell from the pictures but the spots look like hard water deposits. When you wiped the spots with a towel or by hand did they come off easy? If it was hard water spots then no car wash , friction or touchless is going to remove the spots. Hard water deposits will need to be...
