    Free vs. Paid Vacuums?

25% seems to be a accurate use of vacs on those people who buy a automatic wash. I have estimated that 1/2 of the people never even pick up their token coin. I have installed lights on several of my vacs using the supplied voltage to the vacs. I use LED flood lights both with motion sensors and...

    Free vs. Paid Vacuums?

My Automatic revenue has offset the vac loss. I am in a town that went express tunnel crazy. To maintain my automatic wash revenue I had to do something to compete. A push button would be a great thing for the tokens. I have American changer and Hamilton token vendors and neither of them can be...

Credit card to token conversion for Hamilton changer

I have a Hamilton credit card to token coin teller. I saw very little use out of it. Maybe $30 per month. I finally just shut it down as the fees were about the same amount as the amount it did each month.

    Very impressive WashWorld Razor Install

I went through this wash today. It is a nice clean install. All the functions worked great. New Auto cashier still won’t take cash or coins of any kind. Code or credit card only. The 3 self service bays left a lot to be desired though. Coin boxes seemed like they were still out of the 1970’s. No...

    Free vs. Paid Vacuums?

I dispense a token with every AUtomatic wash. The token is good for 1 vac cycle of 6 minutes. They can also use the token for a $1 discount the next time they use the automatic. I also make the token good for only .25 cents in my SS bays. I did this because I started getting people who would...

    A new idea

I am working on doubling my dryer HP in a couple of my IBA. Going from 3- 10 HP dryers and adding 2 more 15HP dyers for a total of 60HP dry. IMO the dryer of a IBA is the easiest thing to address to improve customer perception of a wash. I would be concerned that a car may not be completely...

    House Hold Trash

Last week one of my dumpster was filled completely full of hay. Then they went to the bay and blew the rest out. I figured I was lucky that not all of it ended up in the bay for me to clean and take to the dumpster. Mini vans are the worst dumpers IMO.

    Youtube carwash reviewer

Things I picked up on that customers like, A sign that lets the customer know what is going on and what is being applied. Sizzle-- good foam coverage and colors, smells get customer reactions. Dryers-- I think most of the videos show he is not satisfied with most dryers on IBAs. I agree that you...

    Very impressive WashWorld Razor Install

I know this wash very well as it is by my winter home in Nevada. For the last 12 years no one took care of this wash and things rarely worked. It was run down to say the least. When they put the ryko pulse it worked fine for a couple of years but no one knew even the basics about making it run...

How many guys have 2 IBA's?

I have built 3 locations where I started out with 1 IBA and made provisions to easily add another IBA when demand warranted. IMO you need at least 1500 cars per IBA before you start to think about adding a second IBA. When I added the second auto the first year I washed about 50% more cars in...

How many guys have 2 IBA's?

I have 2 locations with 2 Ryko touchless OHDs. I have considered putting a soft gloss but my market is overbuilt with express tunnels by 3x more than market can support. I am sticking with my touchless niche and doing fine considering all my competition.

Towels - Microfiber vs. Cotton for drying station.

After 25 years of offering a free towel station I have found the better grade of towel i put out the more theft of them i see. I get the ones from Sam's that cost around $20 per 60. I wash and dye them in hot water and 2 towels will dry any large vehicle.

    Introduction and boiler/water softener questions.

I do a hot water presoak in the automatics and cold for the rest. The SS bays have hot water soap and cold for the other functions. I would buy a 75K radiant heater for your automatic if it has doors. I would think that would be a must in MIchigan. I have a 3 ss and 2 auto bay wash. One 199K...

    Introduction and boiler/water softener questions.

The first thing I would do is pressurize each zone of your floor heat system to make sure you don't have a bunch of leaks. Where you are located will help determine how many BTUs you will need. I get by with a 199,000 BTU hot water heater for 4 SS bays and 2 autos. I use 2 200,000 btu boilers...

    Wall mounted vacuum

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking of about a half size vac with a coned bottom so it is easy to clean as pat said. Mount the coin box on the side facing out so it does not stick out so far. Trap door on the bottom for easy cleaning by just putting garbage can under it.
