    DVR Vault

Kevin, Good call on the APC backups. Be aware that after a few years the batteries on them go bad and they start working off and on. I have them at some locations and it took a while to figure out why my camara system would shut down for no apparent reason.

    Contemplating IBA conversion

I have been to a couple of classes on converting to a short mini tunnel from a IBA. First thing to look at is available power in your wash. You will need at least 200 amps total availible power for a mini tunnel. If your current IBA uses 125 amps do you have another 75 amps available or will you...

    Ryko Problem

Sounds like you have one of the ice cube relays sticking on. Check your relays and look for a small black spot indicating a burned contact on the ice cube relay. Since this relay is one that is used on every wash they tend to wear more than others. Replace it with a new one or if you do not have...

    Pit/reclaim tank mud

A wise man once said:" He who walks in circles gets nowhere."

    Pit/reclaim tank mud

Confused! One poster says only certain landfills can accept it and then he says that any landfill can take it. I think everyone knows that you let pit dry before taking it somewhere. I guess there is no need to check with state or local agencies either.

    Pit/reclaim tank mud

The EPA considers pit mud the same as street sweepings. The overly regulated state of California also considers it non hazardous. Check with your states department of environmental quality to see what their take on it is. Letting the pit grit dry usually lets you do what ever you want with it.

I would go to a local metal fabricator and have them make me one. Bolt it to the wall or floor with a good lock on the door.

    WCA show

I just returned from the WCA trade show hosted in San Deigo. It was a huge gamble for the WCA to move out of Las Vegas and try a new venue. From what I saw and experienced it appears to have really paid off. Preregistered attendance was up 20% and on the first education day they had another 160...

    Bay Heater Thermostat

I have replaced several ultimate door thermostats with digital units I got from Johnstone supply. I use Johnson controls model A419. The cost was around $60 last time I bought one. There are other digital units for about the same price that also work well.

    Carpet cleaner

I would call detail plus. They will swap out the vac hose with an external solution line for one that runs inside the vac hose. I would also get the vac tool with a window on end at the same time. I have one of their pythons that works very well.

    Soap tank over-floods

Put a check valve in the line so that cold water can't flow back to the soap tank.

    ICA magazine

I just received my first copy of the new ICA magazine. I like what I have seen so far. It has several well written articles by experts outside of the industry. It also gives a lot of summary information that only the ICA would have. Equipment sales per year broken down by type and sales averages...

All my metal halides are gone

Just to clarify, not all CFL bulbs have the ballast integrated into the bulb. I am using some 42 watt CFLs that have the ballast in the fixture and you just rplace the bulb as needed.

    Easy RO reject water question

I use an extra tank that sits right next to my holding tanks for the autos. I tie the 2 tanks together with a hose and lower the float in the original tank. I do not need a system to transfer the water in this way.

Are you sure that you have a full 120v coming in? I would put a volt meter on it to confirm.

Scan Coin 303 sorting off tokens

I am glad I only have a couple of tokens per bucket. It has always been faster for me to hand pick the tokens out while feeding the quarters into the scan coin.

My scan coin has always done the same thing. My tokens are just to close in size to a quarter and tokens have always jambed.

The pump is the same 350 psi pump that they use fro the high pressure functions of the wash arm.

    high impact pump

The blasters were an option on the OHD. They are hooked into the computer system and are triggered to come on by the PLC using a photo eye or pressure sensor plate. The eight or nine nozzles rotate up and down and do a very good job of cleaning wheels and mud from rocker panels.
