Treadle plates maybe. Set a filled 5 gallon bucket on each one and make sure they are triggered on the PLC for each side.

What's so wrong with the AIG bonuses?

My thoughts are that if the AIG bonuses need to be given back because of the company being in the red shouldn't that same logic be applied to CONgress. If they operate each year without a balanced budget they should forfeit all of their pay also. If the budget is balanced they collect their pay...

    Starting Out

I think the first place anyone should start is by developing a proforma so you can see the money you can expect from a carwash then you can compare that to your local costs for one. Get copies of the trade magazines yearly surveys as well as the International carwash cost of doing business...

    The Car Care/Repair Menu

My family and I were tire dealers for over 30 years and got out of it 15 years ago for several reasons. Most tire manufacturers will not deal direct with an individual tire dealer anymore. Unless you have power to buy millions of dollars worth of tires direct you will have to get them through...

    Books, Publishers, Book Reviews

I agree with Bill on this one. Just because you have published something does not make a person the end all authority on every subject in carwashing. The strength of this forum is the group and calling on everyone to contribute. IMO anything published is simply a collaboration of a few lessons...

    Ryko calls 21 times

I had a voyager that had an on board soft water tank. Something has to send the signal to the PLC of low water pressure or low water tank. Find the input on the computer and pull that wire out and see if you still get the false codes. Also if you have a filter on the water supply line check it...

    Source for replacement unitec modem?

In one of the more recent carwash magazines in the back there was an ad for a company that sells remanufactured carwash electronics. I don't have the ad with me but I know it was a company with 3 initials starting with the letter R. They also will have a booth at the ICA coming up. I am going to...

It is probably the lower float switch in your water holding tank. If the incoming water is too turbulent it can cause the float on the switch to move sending a signal to the PLC that the tank is low on water. Try redirecting the water flow so that it is not directed at the lower float switch...

    Cleaning bay walls

I like to use muratic acid in the following way. I either brush it on or spray it on 2 frp panels at a time. I dilute it 1 or 2 parts to water. I let it sit for a couple of minutes then go back over and brush it off using more acid. Then a quick rinse with water and the panels are usually clean...

    Youth Group Donation Update

AS I recall it was Lori Cady of Mo cady carwash in Colorado who first posted this idea for charity carwashing back in the mid 90s when this forum was in its infancy and long before Pat C was on board. She is responsible for most of the WCA charity wash program that was also adopted and updated...

    Banks and bankrupt car washes

Harry is right about mark to market verbage. I have seen many of the economic gurus call it market to market or at least pronounce it that way so I got into a bad habit of repeating it that way. For most of last century mark to market was suspended. Starting in the early 1900's as I recall.

    I've created a monster

I use a little methenol in the winter to keep my bucket and brush from freezing. I used to have the nice wide brushes with hogs hair in my buckets but too many people would do the whole car. With the small wheel wizard brush they don't try to do the whole car just the wheels and windsheilds...

    I've created a monster

I use a small 30 gallon bucket with small wheel wizard brushes out in front of all my automatics. I mix it up with a little wheel cleaner and lots of water. Customers can use the solution to do their tires and glass while waiting for the bay to become empty. This amount will generally last 2 or...

    Banks and bankrupt car washes

The problem you are facing has to do with the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley bill passed in 2002. It was in response to the Enron scandal among others. It is an attempt to make large fianancial transaction more transparent so Large scale fraud like ENron does would not happen again. One of the...
