    Dirty Softner Salt?

Mep001, So in other words pellets are better than the Solar? We get Solar salt that might be better basing on the fact that on the bag it says "up to 99.6%" pure". The brand is "Diamond" & it is the crushed uneven looking stuff that is usually referred to as "Solar Salt" We used to use...

    Loud music complaints...what to do?

About 10 years ago I invested in a low cost decibel meter from Radio Shack. It does help one's credibility just in case they say, "Oh it isn't that loud!" It seems that a bigger problem is the vulgar lyrics that sometimes pop up from what they are playing--- rap or whatever. It seems like...

    Self serve bay

aca, With a mulimeter you can test for 24vac to coil. If that is OK then proceed to check to see if the other side of the engaging contacts are hot. Pretty straight forward, unless you have a hidden loose wire or connection somewhere. Even that can be isolated via test points.

    Vacuum Bonus Time?

JM, Thanks, for the reply. Just like I thought----it is a good fit for when we upgrade our Vacuum coin mechs & timers. Now it would be nice if someone has experience with all of the two timers as I was wondering if IDX or Ginsan or Dixmor or some other brand is the best for the vacuums. It...

    Vacuum Bonus Time?

two timing bonus time I don't like jumping to conclusions but does the total lack of response have something to do with--- that bonus time is a bad idea when it comes to the coin op vacuums? I notice there are some customers that spend over 15 minutes vacuuming. Bonus time would make it less...

    Vacuum Bonus Time?

I don't know how many timers allow this but it seems like 2 optional start up prices might be the way to go with the higher startup giving more time as a bonus. The operators who are extra familiar with a variety of timers can hopefully tip all of us on this approach.

    multi pin electrical connector

When this was posted I did a google search on universal crimpers & came up this among a huge range of prices & models. http://www.aeroelectric.com/articles/matenlok/matenlok.html We received it today for $42 with shipping plus tax. It looks & feels good & it seems to have the broadest range...

    coinwash lot size

ANDYS, You should do a basic scaled layout drawing & tweak the widths for the bays & the equipment room. Once you have a visual of the proportioned scale layout you can adjust where needed. From your dimensions---off the top of my humble head it seems that there would be a way to make it work...

    multi pin electrical connector

Tom, I just went to Molex.com & all of your numbers come in OK but the last one with the Manual Crimp Hand Tool 64016-0025 shows as being obsolete. I wonder if there is a work around.

    multi pin electrical connector

www.digikey.com is another source. I just got a connector from them along with several other items. I just looked in their catalog & they have a real large variety of connectors including 14 wire.

    In bay bill acceptors

Do any of you have the side door on your Mars Bill Acceptors that you have in your bays or bill changers? Are they nicer than the top doors for getting at your bills? I only have experience with the top doors.

Mounting bracket for Mars Bill Acceptor?

Because of the extremely tight space we have to work with on our new dog wash we will need to mount both the bill acceptor & the long drop electronic coin mech right in a stainless steel wall. That way minimum space will be used for those 2 items. Anybody have any experience with an add on kit...

    equipment for free???

Hey, if you guys had a laundromat with it like we do they would not even have to bring their own water they would just come & help themselves in your main sink or bathroom sink. Sadly, yes it has happened. After being on the receiving end of this type of "taking things for granted" type of...

Vacuum Coin Mech 3 inch to 2 inch update

We are finally looking into updating the coin mechanisms on our late eighties Stainless Steel Doyle Vacuums. I measured the faceplates for the coin mechs & they are the 3 inch instead of the more common 2 inch. I am thinking that some of you have upgraded your 3 inch faceplate to a 2 inch...

    Rotary Switch vs. Push Button

I seems like a tiny minority of car washers go with PLC control. For what it is worth it seems like there are durable enough simple push button switches without the present day complicated membrane surface & distribution board etc. With these more simple more vandal proof push buttons PLC...

    Weep vs non weep guns

This kind of makes an argument for the dump guns that allow flow through at the gun when the trigger is released. These are the only type of guns that we have ever used since we started using triggers back in the nineteen seventies.

Starter home with no $$$ down.

Pat, The current process tends to require a certified appraisal by the lender. The equity the couple has probably is a factor. I suppose the part of country has a bearing too.

    "Your brush scratched my car!"

Mep1, I would do like Kevin Reilly suggested. I would not go through the insurance company in this instance unless the insurance company insists upon it because of wording in the policy. The reason is the precedent & what is the norm for our industry. It was her responsibility to check &...

Hot Drink Machine as Part of Vending Center

Uncle Sam, If the machine was really perfected we would be interested in having it in the launderette portion of our car wash business. We used to have a coffee meachine in there back in the 60s & early seventies. It was not the lack of interest but the quality of the machine that made us...
