    Trash pickers...

You might ask your insurance agent, I did and I was covered. After awhile I offered to pay him but he (John) was so thankful not to get yelled at or thrown off the property he said no. Every month I would vacuum up between $50-100. By the way John was a retired union auto worker (1980-1990's)...

    Frequent wash program?

If the object is to increase business I would think you would want to give them to anybody/everybody you can. My business motto is 20% of my customers produce 80% of my business and the other 80% of my business is generated by 20% of my customers. I even have business cards made that I give out...

    Trash pickers...

What I did was tell the dumpster diver that if he would empty my trash cans and vacuums in the dumpster I would give him the key to my vacuum doors. But before I made the offer I vacuumed up about $20.00 in quarters in the vacs. I opened the vac doors and showed him how to clean them and the...

    Thinking of closing my Petwash

Why can you not do both? I would think you have a built in customer base with the dog wash. Can you not add the R.O. water dispenser in the same space or outside?

Lower pressure in one of my bays

I agree with MEP0001, but if that is not it I would connect a new hose with a new gun on the other end to your pump in the equipment room. Turn on the bay and see if you are getting the right pressure or not. It may be that the hose going to your bay might be old and pinched.

    SS 3 + 1 convert ideas.

Check out AVW car wash equipment too. Good solid equipment and the cost is right. Don't know if they have a distributor there, which is a must since you know nothing about maintaining and servicing anyone's car wash equipment. Here's a link but check out their whole site...

    SONNY'S DIRECT...Supplier or competitor???

It's been almost 5 months now maybe easywash idea of contacting the billboard company and see if you can lease the billboard is the thing to do. If the lease is not up yet at least you can find out when it's coming up. Are the washes still for sale?

    Scum in the soap lines

Randy does the Fonic soap have the same dilution ratio as vanilla/orange creme? Is it part of KR soap special too?

    Scum in the soap lines

Had the same problem with kr orange creme. Throughly cleaned and bleached the tanks, hydrominder floats and lines. Like Earl I switched to Sonic and the problem went away. Have to say though I really miss the great smell of the orange creme.

2 More Hours in The Car Wash Business

Always thought you were a smart guy but now I know you are brilliant. You are one of few in the car wash business that probably will make a profit this year. Good luck p.s. keep picking up the hoses for a while it's good therapy

Road construction in front of wash

I would believe that if you have "Business Interruption" insurance you might be covered.

What temp of hp is ideal for removing bugs

Over the years I have found that the best temp. is around 107 degrees at the tip. Saying that though means that the water heater has to be adjusted due to the time of the season. I never go above 120. I believe keeping the tip temp. at 107 gives me the best cleaning temp. without wasting energy.

Is bonus time incompatible with in-bay CC acceptance?

I've seen gas stations offer a cash price and a credit card price. Sams and Costco offers their customers discounts if they use their credit card. Why is that not illegal? Why can they offer their customers a discount if they only use their company cards?

Is bonus time incompatible with in-bay CC acceptance?

I only offer bonus time for cash customers. I have offered bonus time since 2001. $1.00-2 minutes / $5-14 minutes (4 free minutes). If a customer ask about it I tell them that I cannot offer the bonus time because of the cost of processing the credit cards. The customers have always understood that.

CC/debt, tokens, loyalty cards or CASH!

I hope I was helpful. It's quite a project taking a closed down FSCW and converting it to an EE. I think when operators get together either in person, blog or phone it can only be positive. You definitely gave me some ideas about express detailing options.

CC/debt, tokens, loyalty cards or CASH!

I have an EE with 8 SS bays next door. The EE had been a FS wash for over 30 years. As soon as I turned the FSCW to an EE my volume at the SS DROPPED between 40- 60% any given month. I do believe that having SS bays can be good but how many is the question. If you really want to keep the all the...

Why is Kleen-Rite so slow lately?

I notice that the last year or so Grainger never seems to have anything in stock, even stainless steel cotter pins. It's interesting about your comment about Orange Creme. I received 4 pails the end of last month and noticed that they seemed to be light colored orange instead of the dark orange...

    Freezing Weeps

I have had the same problem. This year I decided to have my drip turn on at 39 degrees (pulsating) and running full blast at 28. So far I only have my farthest bay freeze twice but everything else is working. I've been thinking about installing this this summer. Is anyone using this? I think KR...
