I built it up with so many layers of blue Monster tape that I had a hard time getting the thread started. It still bottomed out pretty easily but may not have leaked with good thread dope. I just don't like it.

Also if I could get them to seal I can't get my valve handles to clock properly. I could live with the one side but the other side I would not be able to shut off because the pump stand frame is in the way. Maybe if I used standard valves that had female threads on both ends and pipe nipples it...

I'm also having an issue with threads bottoming out. 1" Hypro mesh strainer with a brass ball valve that has a male thread. This is dry fitted and tightened by hand. I tried a nylon fitting and it did the same thing. The mesh strainer is made in China so there's that.

Drilling a drain hole would have helped a bit. My line of thinking these days is that it seems no matter what you do there's a chance water will get in so let it out. Putting conduit in the top is just asking for it though.

Assuming a gravity feed tank here. Did you temporarily starve the pump by closing down the feed valve at the tank to get the pump to cavitate enough to draw the chemical? Open the valve back up enough to stop the pump chatter when done. It should just take a few seconds to do this while running.
