Self Serve Customers are driving me to drink

Luckily I have favorable demographics in the region and AO of the wash I'm buying, so I assume many of these nuances won't be a factor. I agree with you mac - I'm 38 and often wonder where the hell this country is going?

Sorry about that. Didn't intend for that. Good luck finding his replacement.

    When great employees move on

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, or perhaps I worded poorly what I meant. Hopefully in a year I know enough about my wash that I can train someone to work there. Not to replace me, but rather relieve to tend to my other businesses.

    When great employees move on

I feel for you man. I owned a liquor store and night club, and what a nightmare it was to find trust worthy and reliable people. I'm guessing once I'm into my wash here, I'll be a one man show for at least a year until I learn the ins-and-outs of everything. Good luck finding his replacement

Car Wash Show Vegas Apr 23-25.... Worth while to go!???

Yep - That's what I decided. Boarding the plane here in about an hour. Signed my contract yesterday. Lose a week of due diligence, but I miss my pops. I'm excited about my new venture. I know the industry is facing some hardships, but I believe I can make my wash successful. Hopefully...

Is the self serve dead or dying?

That's somewhat re-affirming. One of my competitors is a newly built 200' express with free vacuum and mat cleaning. I have a friend that owns a wash about 90mins from me and he is going give me some help getting started.

Question about capture rate on a corner lot

I think it is. I feel the biggest detrimental factor is a newly constructed 200' express tunnel wash with free vacuums and mat cleaning about 3 miles away. It's owned by a non local corp., and I believe I can lure customers back just out of loyalty to local ownership. Thanks Robert. Your...

I was hoping the seminars would be very helpful for a new owner? Do you guys think I'm wasting my time? I'm canceling a family trip to FL with my two young kids to see my 83 year old dad in order to attend the car wash. It just seemed like the seminars, the new investor seminar, the self...

Question about capture rate on a corner lot

Thanks for the quick reply. The site is very easily accessible from all directions, on a 35mph roadway. I'm just trying to come up with some ( VERY conservative )first year revenue projections for my lender. From my calculations, even at a .002 capture rate, and only taking into account one...

Question about capture rate on a corner lot

I've been lurking here for some time, and am about to go into contract on a wash that is located on a corner lot, where both roadways passing by it are in the 14K range. I've searched both on the forums here and using Google but haven't found an answer. When calculating cars washed using a...
