    Quarter Thieves

I vend 1 1/8" tokens and bays accept quarters, tokens and cc. I bought custom tokens, which are good for marketing purposes. This is the best way for me; no one cleaning out a supply of quarters to then use off- premises, plus you benefit from unused/ lost tokens.

Re-wire SS Vac for detail shop use

Yes the plan is to install the vacs outside the building and run the hoses and wires inside. I'm planning to use an on off switch with some type of light indicator so that I know when the vacuum is on.

    Attracting "drive-bys"

use an app like touch4wash or counless. you can do special promotions or discount days for truckers. I would think the problem with truckers is that they're on a time schedule and maybe you could drive business by discounting the truck wash bays during certain hours of the day for your app...

Have you ever ran away business

Go to $2. Enjoy the extra revenue. It's 2021 and alot of car wash bays charge $3/3minutes. Look at the cost of other things you buy and then ask yourself how you feel about the value of these items ( gas, coffee, an oil change, a car battery). I think we as owners aren't objective enough...

    Kondor KL2 Rear Butterfly Issue

Do a search for butterfly arms close on center of vehicle, Because this was talked about before. An operator stated that he had a similar problem with the arms closing too early and he adjusted his sonar by tilting it a bit so it was not quite level.

    garage door openers

I installed a Liftmaster jackshaft-style operator in my IBA. It's coupled to the main shaft and sits in my tool room where it's dry. I'm tearing it out in a month or so to install vinyl doors with electric operators.

Which would you do, if anything ? Need some recommendations

You're $10 at a Razor and hand-prepping all the cars, too?!? I'm shocked by that.

    New IBA pricing

my theory is that once the customer pulls a $20 bill out to pay, in their mind that 20 is gone. Whether or not they get some quarters back for change seems fairly inconsequential. I think too many operators fret too much about raising prices. Once I raised all my prices significantly it made the...

Which would you do, if anything ? Need some recommendations

since your market has a new price ceiling of $18 I would go there too and not look back. That's my strategy when my new WW Razor goes in. It's market- based pricing. If his customers pay it, yours will, too.

    Convert self serve to automatic

It's bad enough having the bank as a " silent partner". No way I'd trade off a machine and installation for a cut of profit. This isn't Shark Tank!

Which would you do, if anything ? Need some recommendations

What kind of IBA do you have? Is it different from competitor's? I don't feel that offering a free vac is the way to improve profits, because vacs are very profitable. I think you need every profit source. You could focus on being the better wash; keep it cleaner than competitor, fix...

Looking to buy my first car wash

I have an 8 plex apartment building and would never sell it to fund my car wash loan. Find a way to get a 15 year amortization on the loan. With your down payment and tax returns from the business, the bank should give you some better terms than 5 years.

Converting a Bay to a Detail shop

If you are going to do this, you should do it 100%; operate the business yourself. Hire employees, pay payroll taxes and insurance, equip the shop with carpet extractor, air lines, steamer, ozone machine and buffers. Train employees and get workers comp insurance. Get a building permit for...

Converting a Bay to a Detail shop

The business model is far simpler with a self serve bay. It wouldn't cost too much for the equipment. You are imagining things going smoothly by renting to a detailer; they won't. To have a professional detail business you need; equipment, chemicals, lighting, and insurance. If you are...

Converting a Bay to a Detail shop

I think that trying to tie the monthly rent to the detailing revenue would lead to dishonesty potentially, and transparency and accountability would be difficult to achieve. Is there a reason why you think another self-service bay Is a bad idea?
