A little bit of humor to start or end your day

As well as what a pizza delivery guy will accept for a tip.

    Cat 3535 no pressure

I've been using the General Pump one for 25 years, and the only failure I've seen is that they eventually leak through the center of the adjuster when the o-rings fail.

I hope you didn't pay $196 for that regulator: https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-62194-general-pump-cwr4525-brass-regulating-valve-45-gpm-2500-psi.aspx

BSPT pipe thread vs NPT "hands on" person?

Assuming you mean British Standard Pipe Taper, they're interchangeable with NPT as long as it's a fractional inch size and the thread pitch is the same, just use lots of Teflon® tape. You can tell pretty easily if the thread pitch is different by threading two fittings together by hand. They...

    Temporary pumps

A 2500 series Procon on a 3/4 HP motor can maintain 250 PSI to at least four or five bays depending on the tip. The Harbor Freight pump's max pressure is 70 PSI. The GPM rating of the pump in this application is irrelevant. You won't get more GPM to the bay when the maximum pressure of the...

    Temporary pumps

I use one for a transfer pump, plus I keep at least one other spare, so I always have an emergency backup spare. Look into the quick change mount - it takes me all of 15 seconds to change a pump.

    Temporary pumps

I plan on ordering one next time I need pumps. I had one apart at another wash, and it's just two pumps on a manifold, and it's cheaper than two separate pumps. I don't know what pressure you run on your SFR, but I don't think you'll be happy with a Flojet there. The double pump isn't any...

    Cat 3535 no pressure

Usually the only way you wouldn't build pressure because of a restriction in the line would be if the pump has also completely lost prime. The first thing I'd do is pinch off the unloader's bypass line and see if there's any flow. Assuming it's truly an unloader, if there is no flow at all...

    Temporary pumps

Why would you want an alternative pump that costs more, is designed for a different purpose, has a lower max pressure, would require a system redesign, and is from Harbor Freight, when you can just keep a spare Flojet? I assume you're not lifting your tire cleaner out of a pond or a river.

    What does this do?

The water from the solenoid tees into the line from the plumbing below it. That's the line that goes to the tank, not the feed from the solenoid. There is (or should be) a check valve on the line before the tee which needs to be replaced. The tank will usually have hot water - if you're...

    New Kleen Rite Website

It's actually pretty good now, but it could stand some improvement, like searching within the current search results.

    New Kleen Rite Website

It used to be SO much worse before their last upgrade. Their search algorithm was so bad that if you tried to search two words like "hopper motor" it would always return zero results. I can't navigate their site on mobile at all now. When I try to browse categories, they just don't show up...

I'm just now past halfway into my second 25 year interval.

    25+???

A "light year" is a measure of distance. Advancements in technology are measured in units of time, like plain years.

    Erie synthetic foam brush

Reminds me of when I was a kid, a bunch of us came out of school and saw the custodian's car really dirty, something sandy and probably super gritty, so we went into the bathroom, grabbed a bunch of the cheap brown paper towels and scrubbed it clean. I still cringe when I think about it.

    Erie synthetic foam brush

FWIW if I were to see that in a car wash, I wouldn't put it on the paint because it looks so much like corn broom bristles. Hopefully you won't have that problem with your customers.

    Hamilton Goldline heater

Hamilton's validators don't do well in really cold temps. By the time my heater fan went out, I had already replaced the XE with a Mars, so I just pulled the heater fuse and left it.

Dual injecting methanol and foam brush soap

Maybe use adjustable flow meters on both products, but it might be hard to find one that will read such a low flow.

    Scottsdale to LED

I think he means they're too close to the wall. I'm installing the same lights at my wash, they're about 3 1/2' from center instead of about 7' from center. It lights up the sides of the car well but doesn't cast so much light over the wall in the next bay. The ones in these photos are also...

    Scottsdale to LED

I've seen lights like that in wash bays - they do a decent job, but at minimum I still would have had to install outlets in place of the light fixtures and then fabricate a mount for the lights. This upgrade took minimal cost and time, and I'm pretty sure would fully pass electrical code. I...
