    Boom Hose Pull Down

    I "home" the booms so they swing to the opposite end of the bay from where the wand holder is. The weight of the hose will pull the boom tight to the wall. If the boom swings itself to where the meter and hanger are, the boom will always be 45° or more away from the wall instead of 90° from...

    .25 = $1.00 LED 7 ?

    You'd be better off adjusting either the quarter or the token side sensitivity to zero to make sure only one side is taking coins. I don't think it can double-pulse if both sides accept the coin, but I feel it would be better if only one side is active for one coin.

    Trolly motor fault

    Yes. Water is getting in it.

    .25 = $1.00 LED 7 ?

    Unless a quarter is in the second slot, the unit is defective. They come default with a token in it and the switches set to 4 pulses per token.

    I started feeling like a carwash owner today.

    Whatever you sell, it's gotta be better than a Rowe.

    Customer calls for accommodation

    The BBB is a scam now. I used to work for someone who was called by them wanting him to sign up, promising they would help his business by handling complaints. When he said no thank you, they threatened to post him online with an F rating. He told the guy "I'll take your F rating in exchange...

    Super 5000 troubles

    I think the password is 3071. If it's an option, it should be easy to enable it. You have to enable custom wash for it to take effect or it will default to factory settings. After you set it, power it down and back up and see if it holds the custom wash setting. If not, you'll have to...

    .25 = $1.00 LED 7 ?

    It's not likely to be the coin acceptor unless it's a multi-coin unit. I have seen a Slugbuster II 2-coin go bad and misread quarters for tokens and give four pulses for them.

    I started feeling like a carwash owner today.

    I'd only keep a Rowe if it had a Hamilton hopper and controller and a Mars validator. I've installed three of Etowah Valley's Genesis conversions which work great, but they leave the Rowe hoppers. Two that I've converted have worn out hoppers so they shut down often when they can't fill the order.

    Anyone using LPR license plate readers?

    I'm curious too. I would expect live 24/7 monitoring for that amount.

    Anyone have a crimping tool / machine for HP hose?

    I have a hand swage unit for hose repair, but mainly because I've been a professional car wash tech off and on for about 25 years. For everyday operation I just keep lots of spare hoses since the hand unit is not easy to use, and the swage fittings are so pricey that (if I've done the math...

    Customer calls for accommodation

    I have a phone number posted and I've never received a call for a phony claim. I've gotten a couple where a bay was taking money and not starting (Thanks, Slugbuster EZ and the crappy latch) and neither person even asked for a refund. I also have an email address but I haven't posted it around...

    Anyone using LPR license plate readers?

    In just the last week I've gotten criminal trespass warrants against five people. The last pair were there for three hours blocking a bay and a vacuum and were soliciting my customers for hand wash, hand dry and quick detail. Now I can show police video of them having been on the property, and...

    Max HP PSI on WashWorld Razor?

    Assuming it has the Cat 3535, the max pressure of the pump is 1200. I know it will run a lot higher, but it will shorten the life of the seals, and other components of your unit may have a limit of 1100. If you do run it higher than 1200, you'd increase your water use a lot unless you change tips.

    Mosmatic vs Air shammee vs others

    I don't remember whose has which, but I have seen units with a wire that runs inside the hose to a switch, and big heavy nozzles with a valve that you have to hold open with a trigger. I do like the idea of a dual type, shouldn't be difficult for someone to design and make. Maybe a cylindrical...

    Oil or water based fragrance?

    I've only had that issue with cheaper fragrances, which I found out later was because the concentrates were old and their containers weren't kept sealed. I've never had any issue at all when using Fragramatics' oil-based.

    Mosmatic vs Air shammee vs others

    I used it, didn't like it but the vehicle I tried it on wasn't waxed and the spray wax didn't make it bead. The customers who have asked me to add dryers wanted it to blow the water out of the mirrors and crevices.

    Hamilton Goldline heater

    The fan bearings do go bad, which is probably the noise. The heater is probably coming on without the fan running and creating the smell. The heater shouldn't run in the summer, so the thermostat must be bad too. The fan part number 49-9302. The thermostat is on the left side of the...

    Oil or water based fragrance?

    I've never actually seen inside the later units, but I was told by someone with them that there are no pumps under the dome. I guess he had never had the dome off.

    Oil or water based fragrance?

    If your unit has the triple pump under the dome, you should use water-based. The tubing will harden up with oil-base and the pumps will quit working. Later models use a venturi in the gun to "suck" the fragrance, in which oil-base will spray better. I prefer oil-base because it lasts for a...
