I spent 50 years in and around the CW biz. It seems the farther away we got from the "Ass whoopin" generation, and into the "Time out" generation, the worse it got.
I'm not Kimberly, but I can comment on the round brushes. I had a friend tell me about a wash he used while vacationing that had round brushes. He told me he liked them a lot better, especially on the wheels. I changed one wash to them to see how customers felt about them. Most liked them better...
That makes total sense. Also, with the sign on the drivers side, there are a few obstructions (side mirror, a-post, equipment in bay, delineator posts, bollards, whatever). With the sign on the passenger side, it would be pretty much unobstructed.
"Guide" rails. They are always going to veer left, and have done so since Hitler was a mall cop. Rails are the best for guiding them, but even the determined will climb them eventually.
I've sold my washes, but my largest equipment room was about 20 X 35. It worked great. I don't remember which BTU I picked, but 30K was more than enough. I think it may have actually been a 20K. If Dakota Hoskins sees this, maybe he can chime in on the size.
I don't agree with custom tokens advertising the business. Once I sold that token, I never wanted to see it again. The person that bought it knows where they got it, so I don't need to advertise to them. For the parent of Billy that went off to college and finds it in a junk drawer, couch...
The guys over on the RV forums say that the RV stuff will actually freeze somewhat, but doesn't expand. Not sure if that's totally the case, but it's on the internet, so I assume it's true.
Another operator here (chaz), used an existing vacuum that was mounted near a wall on his building. He piped air to the vac, hung a hose there, and put a switch on the vac to toggle between air and vac. This used the existing vac controls, etc. instead of building/buying a whole new machine...
Congratulations! I'm almost three years removed from my washes and am enjoying my Pop Pop role. I get my car wash fix here, without getting wet feet and busted knuckles.
