    50 Years...It's a wrap!

It all started back in 1969, washing down bays in my Dad's first self-serve wash. As of this afternoon, I have sold my washes and holstered my wand for the last time...

    Mixed denomination Bill Counter

Service contracts, maintenance plans, extended warranties or whatever fancy name they put on them are just BS for-profit add-ons. If they weren't a money maker, they wouldn't sell them. I've never bought one and never will. I'm way ahead of the game. I know there are some of you out there that...

    Hamilton Goldline

Mine was "Hopper time out". Some old timers will remember how much of an issue it was when crooks would access the payout switch and jackpot the hopper. The simple fix, was to cut the white wire in the harness. This would render the switch useless until the wire was reconnected. Little did I...

    Hamilton Goldline

I agree with MEP. I had an issue once (self-inflicted) where my hopper would churn out 27 dollar coins and shut down. $6.75 is 27 quarters.

    Micro Coin QL

Yeah, I probably should've elaborated a bit. Small coins, usually pennies stuck in there by children, tend to not roll back out the chute well and jam up the acceptor. It happens often enough to be pretty frustrating, not to mention putting a bay out of service now and then.

    Micro Coin QL

I did not know that. That probably won't help him though. Since he is using a multi-coin acceptor, I'm guessing he is using dollar tokens or coins. A dollar value would be 20, and the QL is limited to 10 credits. I've always wanted to take the small coins, but I didn't want to give any credit...

    Looking for used automatic

Back when I started, 16' bays were the norm. Of course, most of the cars were the size of the Queen Mary.

    Micro Coin QL

I think they are programmed for nickels and dimes, but I don't know how they would handle them, since all timers are looking for a pulse from a quarter. I had some of those old blue Microcoins (actually, I think I still have a few). I know that they would store credit until it reached the target...

    Healthy Dialogue about BILL-COIN ATMs

Many people have the mindset that you must have cash for a car wash. Those of you that dispense quarters only increase that assumption. I think we are at least a decade away from cashless. Greg, don’t make a major decision like this on a knee jerk reaction.

What function should I add to my bays?

In my mind, that’s water... I have toyed around with changing my bug remover label to “Bug/Salt remover”, in an attempt to get people to use it in the winter, but never got around to it.

    Stringers successful with MEI

I don't have to eat it. If my changer dispenses too much change in a short period of time, it shuts down and sounds an alarm. I've lost very little in the last 20 years. Celica, don't rest on your laurels. We all got bit in the a$$ pretty hard when Coinco was the answer to all of our problems...

    Healthy Dialogue about BILL-COIN ATMs

Actually, other than you, I don't know anyone that wants one at a wash. Frankly, I have enough targets. I surely don't want one with several thousand dollars in it. I know it wouldn't have that much, but every crook would think so.

Etowah Valley or Hamilton Mars conversion for RNS Changer

Etowah has a Mars conversion to go from a Coinco conversion to Mars. You don't have to change anything on the exterior.

    Timemaster Remote

I agree with others, chuck them as they go bad. I bought a wash with them years ago. It wasn't long before I replaced them with Dixmor. Tokens will be a pain if your an old-time, quarter only wash, because you will have to sort them out, not to mention you might not have multi-coin acceptors...

    Mixed denomination Bill Counter

Check the price of new ones first. I bought one about 15 or so years ago for about 4K. I pretty much wore it out and bought a new one about 3 years ago for around $2500.

    Cobra Hockey Puck Locks Shroud/Ra-Lock

Contact Cobra. I'm sure Ra-Lock buys them complete from Cobra. Back when I bought my ACW kits, I wanted the spinners as well, but they were out of them and only had the standard version. Maybe the lock body is different to accommodate the spinner. I ground the flats out of my doors so the...
