Advertising as a percentage of gross?

Just over a year ago I purchased a large digital sign for my wash. It is 6' high by 4' wide. I am located on a major thoroughfare with a 50,000 cpd traffic count. I spent $42,000 for the sign. I figure that over the next five years I will be spending the equivalent of $8,500 for advertising with...

Pit Sludge -- Your state regulations...

In Ohio you are required to have your sludge tested every 2 years and you must use a certified hauler. They have to take the sludge to a certified landfill where it must be placed on a containment pad to dry out before it can be buried in the landfill.

    front license plate protection

Almost every plate I bend with my wraps are on vehicles that don't already have a bracket. Toyota and Nissan are the worst offenders. If you are bending or damaging plates that are already in OEM brackets, you might want to consider adjusting your wraps so they are not so aggressive.

    front license plate protection

I would suggest something a little nicer if you are going to have the customer pay for the bracket. These brackets are more modern and are pretty much a universal fit. http://www.carparts.com/details/Replacement/License_Plate_Bracket/F017304.html...

    Bubble Palooza Question

I had to use a booster pump at my wash for many years due to low water pressure from the city. How big is your supply line and what equipment do you have drawing water?

Missing Pitzer, not much here anymore

Sometimes there are people on forums who suck the air out of them. They always have a long winded answer to a question or are constantly negative in their outlook. People like to post things and have positive discussions but the forum hogs are always there to shoot the topic full of holes. Other...

How to inject soap into HP pump

I don't think injecting the soap through the pump inlet will work for my application. I use an unloader that returns the water to the holding tank when there is no gun being used. How much pressure would I lose by injecting downstream from the pump?

How to inject soap into HP pump

I have a number of HP pumps that all draw from the same gravity feed tank. One is for my chassis bath, another for mat cleaning and one is for my prep gun. I would like to inject soap into the prep gun pump only. Any suggestions?

    EE Conveyor Speed

I agree with your analysis Earl, I adjust my conveyor speed seasonally due to changing dirt conditions. When cars are covered with road salt they are much easier to get clean than removing bugs and bird droppings in the summer. In the summer demand is also lower so faster line speeds are not...

What DVR set up to buy?

They are dumping all the old technology systems to make way for 1080p. The price for 1080p systems has been falling too. I will never buy another analog system...

    Express Exterior defined

In the 1970's SOHIO(Standard Oil of Ohio) operated the largest chain of exterior tunnels in the USA. They had over 100 in the Ohio market alone. They consisted of a Full/Self service gas station with a conveyor tunnel and free vacuums. Many locations washed over 100k cars per year and sold in...

New guy with the standard "should I buy this wash" question (1/3)

Those conveyors are going to eat your lunch. Why would a customer wait in line for an IBA that can wash maybe 15cph when he can get a higher quality wash in 1/4 the time. I think your crazy to buy this wash considering the amount of competition you just listed. The market is becoming over saturated.
