Corporate Express Exteriors are OUT of Their Ever Loving Minds!

My town of 30,000 has 3 Express carwashes all within a half to 3/4 mile of each other. It is fun. The retail carwash economy in the Northeast seems to be slowing down. Gas prices, economy

Corporate Express Exteriors are OUT of Their Ever Loving Minds!

The hard part is earning a living while waiting for sanity to return . The only part of the conveyor segment which is sort of safe is the traditional Full service model. They still do well but I did that for 20 plus years and have no desire to return to it.

Car Wash Accounting - Operating Cash Reserve

Our business is weather related and also affected by consumer sentiment and gas price as part of it. People have to eat; car washing is a luxury.

Car Wash Accounting - Operating Cash Reserve

After the past 3 months of rain, much bigger than mine was. Seriously great question.

Corporate Express Exteriors are OUT of Their Ever Loving Minds!

This is a fascinating subject. Possibly with current interest rates and a slowing economy, the Private Equity groups will pause for a while. Two years ago, one opened up a half mile away from me. I doubt he is doing the numbers he needs, but neither am I with him there. I'm in a town of...

    Token Questions

I have been using $1.00 Tokens and only dispensing Tokens from the Changers for over 15 years. The only way to go. I originally used a larger Hi Security Token but prior to the Pandemic shifted over to a smaller Red Brass Token. No problems with it, less expensive and more convenient. All...

    Side Brush damages customer car!

My Soft gloss is 3 to 4 years old. I bent the driver's side shaft at least a dozen times in the first 3 years. One time when the shaft was bent it did over $12,000 worth of damage. Finally, about 10 months ago a really good Ryko tech finally found the problem. I have a short bay kit and the...

    Help w/ buying new Vacs

Perhaps the higher voltage will help on the demand load, otherwise reduced electric cost is unlikely. Where it saves money is in not having to pull out the old wire. Usually, the vacuum wire runs are the longest ones at the carwash

    Help w/ buying new Vacs

If you are shifting to 3 motors , Easiest way is to use 240 volt That way your existing wiring can handle. I have done that at 2 locations , with new vacs .

    New Tunnel Coming...

The maddening part about this is the distance from you. There are so many great locations without existing carwashes nearby. The big factor which will affect you is the distance, from your site. Investment groups are blind to that issue assuming their operation can overwhelm any competition even...

Is a recess coming? Is it time to get panicky?

The subscription model for carwashing was not really present in the last recession. My thoughts are yes, hopefully just slightly.

Express Wash Impact On Existing IBA/SS

I chose not to share that. What can be said is the result is not good for the existing operator. Until your market expands in 10 or more years there is only so much market.

Express Wash Impact On Existing IBA/SS

Being in a similar situation that happened over a year ago. Look over your whole operation & improve it. Start marketing now before the other opens. You will lose customers, but how many you lose depends on your efforts. As always, there are only so many cars that need washing in an area. Wash...

Pricing -am I out of touch?

I'm in an east coast Shore market, my pricing has been for over 3 years, Bay start up is $2.00 for 2 minutes. Vacs at $1.00 for 3 min. I am going up shortly. Customers are more cognizant of the cost of living than we may think. Look at the price of Fast Food , all has risen in the past few...

    ICS Auto Sentry Flex

I use ICS for two In Bays plus an Express Tunnel. The Autosentry's work great for In Bays and customers love the Touch Screen. Wash Connect is a delight to use on my I phone. My oldest Auto sentry at one In Bay is over 12 years old and still works great. At my Express Conveyor My Auto Sentry's...

    Bent Ryko Brush Shaft

Yes, over 2 weeks and counting. I suggest watching your bay video to see what is happening, whenever you get a strike or bent shaft. Your cause may be different. But having the brush stop turning at the front of the car seems better logically. Unless you have the newer Washbuilder HMI you will...

    Bent Ryko Brush Shaft

I feel positive. A good experienced Ryko tech is the essential part. There is propriety knowledge involved.

    Bent Ryko Brush Shaft

Hopefully solved Ryko tech changed wash settings on HMI, one change was to end all washes at front of car not the rear. He also changed air pressure and damper valve. Simple things, but required the right person with the knowledge

    Life of an automatic

My first In Bay Automatic lasted 15 years, It was a S. P. TurboWash . When I replaced it my volume and price per car went way up. My next machine was a Vector, it lasted 10 years. My current machine is a Laser 360 and has been in 6 years . Customers love a new machine. If your location is...
